Re: Snake through the scupper hole - Worst Nightmare!

Snakes = During my formative years of 3-6 years my dad taught me how to shoot a Daisy BB gun...while on fishing trips. I became pretty proficient at shooting snakes in the back coves of Lake Livingston in the early '70's when there was still lots of visible standing timber. Great story. Glad ...

Re: My second revo stx baitcaster

That's a shame. My Revo is quiet and smooth. Maybe both of yours have been on the shelf a while and just need a good lubing? If you decide on something else I've had good experiences with Lew's. Cowboy cut makes a good point here. If it's been setting for awhile a little lube wouldn't hurt. If it's...

Re: My second revo stx baitcaster

That's very odd for a Revo or any Abu Garcia product in my opinion. I have had a lot of trouble with Shimano products but never Abu. Customer service for Abu products has always been great for me. Then again I have been using Abu reels for 40 years.

Re: Aluminum Boats, Which One?

Those 3 brands have stood the test of time in a rough market and they are welded hulls to boot which should be a no brainer. Check out http://www.gatortraxboats.com Unless you are dead set on sticking to your 3 brand choices you might find you have more flexibility going through Gatortrax. I have ta...

Re: Anchor Pole

I wondered about the telescoping hiking poles collapsing as well. Then I realized that they are used for hiking and if they collapsed, it would be a huge liability for the manufacturer. Been using them for 2 years and not a single issue. Your thought is correct. In order for them to collapse you ha...

I'm thinking I would have had something a bit stronger than New Zealand beer after that incident. If for nothing else to help fight a potential infection from the inside out.

Re: What do you wear ?

Stay away from anything cotton against your skin. Cotton in winter can kill you. Cotton absorbs moisture and doesn't wick it away from your skin. Breathable waders with appropriate layers. Layer up, wear a PFD always, and paddle until you can't hear banjos!

Re: Rod recommendation

Matching a rod to that particular family of baits is not hard but rods with a lot of backbone sometimes have either a fast tip or they are like casting with a 2x4. Find something in the middle. Those larger baits and A rigs have enough weight inherently to cause some flex but too much or too little ...

Re: Need recommendation on waterproof gloves & wool socks

For socks I always wear a silk or polypropylene liner under a pair of long wool socks. Very thin but wicks moisture and keeps blisters away. I also insure my boots are insulated and waterproof. My hands get cold when it's below 70 degrees. I have tried a lot of different things and now I carry multi...
