Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, June 29th, SATURDAY, 2024*****
Count me in! I have some experience fishing BTB near shore for bull reds and sharks and bought the additional gear for the trip last year but I couldn't make it after all. Water is shallow where I have fished so I typically drop an anchor to stay in one spot. Will I need an anchor for this trip? My ...

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JULY 15th, SATURDAY, 2023*****
Yakety_Yak, I will make my own ribbonfish rigs after all. I also ordered the fish bag from Delaware Paddlesports. The coupon code was good for $10 off which helped offset some of the shipping cost. Thank you for reaching out to the store owner for the new code and for answering my questions. I can't...

The coupon code for the fish bag doesn't work. Did anyone have any luck with it or has another code?

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JULY 15th, SATURDAY, 2023*****
Please add me! My name is Marco Lai. I have fished BTB near shore for bull reds and sharks over the years, but I haven't tried kingfish at the rigs. I got a pedal kayak last year so I feel that I'm better prepared now. I have a few questions I hope someone can answer: 1. What lures should I buy? I h...

Re: Co-pilot Knife.. On your PFD ..
Good macgyverizing there! I've been playing with the idea of using a bait knife too, but I was afraid it will fall from its sheath. I've attached a knife and sheath (from Academy) to my Kokatat vest using zip ties. It's really handy and easily snaps back into the sheath. Also added a small bungee co...

Re: New Experience this past Saturday
Were you casting when you flipped? I flipped once years ago while casting from right to left because my weight shifted and the momentum carried me over. I now cast back to front (mostly) while I'm on the kayak.

Re: transporting method - hobie outback in toyota tundra?
I do have a Tundra, but I don't use a hitch extender because my kayak is 9 feet long and it fits perfectly with a tailgate extension. I see that people use this one on their trucks. They wrapped the T-head with pool noodles. At a minimum, I would strap the kayak to the T head and would run 2 straps ...

Some of the guys who fish rigs carry gaffs. Make sure you only use it when you know you are keeping the fish

I was catching bull reds in the second gut over a week ago. If you have the right gear, fish the bottom with cut bait.

Bull reds in McFaddin
So, technically this is not a kayak fishing report, but I figured that you guys would be interested because we fished McFaddin. I took Mom and Pop for some surf fishing last weekend. We caught a total of 5 bull reds from the shore. Mom caught her biggest fish ever taping at 41 inches. The fish were ...
