Were you casting when you flipped? I flipped once years ago while casting from right to left because my weight shifted and the momentum carried me over. I now cast back to front (mostly) while I'm on the kayak.

I do have a Tundra, but I don't use a hitch extender because my kayak is 9 feet long and it fits perfectly with a tailgate extension. I see that people use this one on their trucks. Check out a bed extender that attaches to your hitch.

Some of the guys who fish rigs carry gaffs. Make sure you only use it when you know you are keeping the fish

I was catching bull reds in the second gut over a week ago. If you have the right gear, fish the bottom with cut bait.
