Re: San Angelo area

I appreciate all the information. I also apologize for a late reply, but I didn’t have the email upon reply box checked. I’ve been checking out google earth and looking around the forum already. Certainly going to look up info on OH Ivey too. Now, if all this wind would calm down I’ll have a look i...

Re: San Angelo area

Although there may not be as much activity now, there's 20+ years of information you can research. Use the search function to the upper right. Having said that, I can't believe no one said OH Ivie. It has to be the hottest bass lake in Texas, if not the country. That lake is kicking out big bass lik...

Ingleside on the Bay - March 10th, 2024

As usual on a the day I have to travel back to San Antonio, we chose to fish a close by with a quick paddle. Thought about heading to Bayside on Copano, but the winds were slightly calmer than forecast so we ran south to Ingleside on the Bay. It was a pretty morning. https://i.imgur.com/Ud5nVMvl.jpg...

East Flats - March 9th, 2024

A couple weeks ago my neighbor pitched an idea to head to the coast March 9th to fish. I didn't really want to go because of Spring Break and Oysterfest, but the solunar and extended forecast didn't look too bad. https://i.imgur.com/O3GQzRdl.png The Wednesday before the trip it got, um, windier. htt...

Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/5)

I didn’t read the link but I know of someone who received a citation for this and Ive also seen a GW write a citation on Lone Star Law for this. A friend of mine who fished a lot on the Brazos river with limb and trot lines was fishing with us in AP last summer. We saw a GW at the boat ramp and he ...

Re: AP to Port A (03/02,03/5)

The trot line should have been marked with buoys and TPWD Trotline Tag (which may or may not have been been on it). Seems like they attempted to be within the law since it had contact info.

Glad you found some aggressive reds.

Re: Colorado River Near Columbus

The loop through there, 71 to Beason's, has been on my radar ever since I started kayaking 20+ years ago. Still haven't made the run.

The flow is on the decline so it should be getting cleared up.

Re: Trout on the coast

I looked at the water temps at various gauges from Matagorda to the border and temps were into the mid 30's. There's also pics of frozen foam on beaches around Port O'Conner/Port Lavaca.

The water got colder than I thought it would, but definitely not as long Feb 2021.

Frog Pattern

Working on a frog pattern for this upcoming spring. I'm wanting to mimic the small Cricket Frogs which litter the stream banks I fish. I also wanted a fly which has motion, not commotion, as I believe our Hill Country bass are spooked by too much noise. It's based off a "Pimple Popper Frog"...

TPWD Interactive Access Map

Was looking up TPWD Lease Access points, I stumbled upon their interactive viewer: Link

Obviously, it shows the location of their leased access points, but also numerous other access points, paddling trails, and river gauges. It's quite a resource.

Yeah, I really like fishing lakes surrounded by pine trees. I don't do it too often now since I no longer live in DFW.

Y'all over in eastern Texas are in much better shape lake level wise than we are west of US 77.

Re: Galveston considering to abandon the west bay access point on Sportsman's Road

Went down there 10/29 thinking perhaps barrier was removed since the abandonment failed but NOPE, all blocked off and even have stupid large boulders placed at parking area on side of road. The end of 8 mile road fenced off as well. What a shame and a sham, no other close access point for the Deer ...

In the past I've always done my plastic welding with a heat gun and various flat metal pieces, like a putty knife. I need to do some plastic welding on my Search 15, so I may invest in a plastic welder as my "newest" kayak is already 12 years old and this is something I'll have to start do...

Lighthouse Lakes - October 7th, 2023

After the beat down on Friday and still dealing with high waters and winds, we chose to fish Lighthouse Lakes, specifically entering into the Electric Loop portion as the lakes are smaller and there would be enough water to avoid the oysters. https://i.imgur.com/lbBo74K.jpg We paddled into the lakes...
