Fresh Ceviche

Here's my ceviche recipe, though I'm sure it's similar to most. I included measurements but this is very much a "Follow Your Heart" type recipe where I've estimated quantities. 8 Limes (give or take depending on size of filet) 1 Trout Filet; or any fresh, firm, white flesh fish 1 Large Rom...

There's also a detailed book by Ric Jacobsen which covers state waters. However, I do not know if it covers waters around Corpus Christi Port Aransas.

Re: Kayak Trailer

Have you checked on Offer Up or Craigslist?

FYI, be careful buying an old trailer which does not have a current registration or title. Texas has really cracked down on people buying cheap, old boat trailers and registering them as "homebuilt". A simple Bill of Sale will not work either.

TX Hill Country - September 11, 2022

Got out today to see how our rivers looking since the all the rain we've received for the past few weeks. I'm glad to report I actually saw river flows. Which is huge. I scoped out several crossings to see what was what, and I caught decent bass at each crossing. Most were a pound or less, but I did...

Re: Salt Lake in Rockport

Ok spot for black drum and reds, maybe a trout or two in the canals. Watch your tides as it is a shallow lake. Maybe Tombo will chime in, he lives nearby and fishes it.

Re: Corpus Christi Area - Aransas Pass Area - Living

I spend quite a bit of time in Rockport and went to college at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. If I were moving there I would look at Portland/Gregory. Ingleside is a surprisingly a decent small town. I would not live in Aransas Pass unless it were a handful of nice neighborhoods. Flour Bluff is a g...

Re: Outdoor atorage

I'm not a fan of racks that support kayaks in 2 spots, especially out in the sun where they'll get hot and warp (oilcanning). Driving around Sea Isle, I see lots of kayaks stored outdoors that are completely ruined by heat and warpage. It's especially bad when the kayaks fill up with horizontal rai...

Re: Outdoor atorage

I think they are great for the price and was going to purchase one, but ended up building something in my garage with shelving for my camping gear.
Only limitation may be is how well really wide kayaks sit in the rack. I also wouldn't install the hooks for the paddles.

Medina River 08-06-2022 - It Ain't Pretty, Y'all

Went to check out how bad things were on the Medina River, and honestly I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was somehow worse than I anticipated. Socializednerd was on the Medina about 3 weeks ago and it had water, so I at least had that as a baseline. Anyways, I started way up and checked out near...

I think that means when you stretch the mesh the measurement from the nodes of 5 holes (6 nodes) must be longer than 8.75".

Re: Standing and fishing

Have you considered a paddle board with an optional high seat. Maybe something like a Diablo Amigo, Crescent Sup+, or Kaku Voodoo. I obviously don't know your level of discomfort, but I think a stable kayak or SUP with an elevated seat to allow you have more knees bent would help quite a bit.

This Perception Rudder Kit and this Rudder Bracket should work with a Tarpon 160i or older. May need Bolts to mount the rudder bracket if yours were removed at some point. I have several kits of of the Smart Track rudder system that I was given from a closed kayak shop I recently acquired. I haven't...

Re: How's fishing along the Causeway in Corpus?

It'll depend on the wind really. There's lots of great structure there with channels, spoil islands, and an old oil field rd (I can't remember the name). Demmit Pier on Flour Bluff is another option, head north to the powerlines and boat hole. They recently re-did the park area and kind of ruined th...
