Re: Under the lights…

Thanks guys for the responses! Impulse - I appreciate your perspective! I enjoy fishing - many different types- from chasing bass in freshwater lakes, rivers, etc.. to chasing trout, reds, whatever else saltwater has to offer. That being said I want to do my best to leave my surroundings as good if ...

Under the lights…

Gonna be headed down to SLP area later this week . A few years ago we fished the lights at Jaimica Beach and had a blast!- no problems launching or fishing. I’ve heard that that area might not be so friendly to those outside the community launching yaks at night fishing the lights. Anyone know any s...

Re: Sabinal conditions???

Thanks guys for the update. Heading there Monday for a week to fish the stretch mostly south of the dam in Utopia. Sounds like it’s flowing adequately for that to happen.

Anyone out near the Utopia stretch of the Sabinal river have a river report. I have a trip scheduled next week and was curious about water level and flow. Thanks!

Re: Texas River Flows

Remember that from year to year the flow may vary - Ive heard many of the counties in central TX are in drought condition. I have fished (w/ a yak) Sabinal yearly for the past 6-8 years. This river is dependent on rainfall, and can run dry in some areas. I usually hit it up in the late spring / earl...

Re: On the Sabinal this summer- June 2019

Always wondered about winter fishing on Park Lake. Might try and stretch a trip up that way sometime to check it out myself. Thanks for the report.

On the Sabinal this summer- June 2019

Sorry for the late report, but his up the Sabinal in Utopia for an annual trip about a month ago. Water level was up from previous years which made floating and accessing the river easier and more productive in certain areas. I caught the tail end of the blue gill spawn which made any bait in a bg p...

Re: Vacation 10_27_18 to 11_3_18 Surfside, Tx

Sea Center is a cool place to go learn about the breeding of reds, and flounder. They actually have a salt water pond stocked with fish that groups can tour and access by appointment. I took our 4h fishing group there earlier this past year, and we had a blast. If you like saltwater fishing, you nee...

East Texas Fishing...

Got a chance to head up to East Tx and fish on a small private lake on a small ranch called Melody Acres, just north of Crockett. Our family spent the weekend up there and had a blast out in the country. Caught some bass - not much size, but enough to keep us busy. Check out the vidoe below... https...

The "Bear"

Went to Bear Branch this past weekend. Water was about a foot lower than normal, and it was a tough paddle getting out of the sludge, but found plenty LMB as well as crappie and had a couple good sized gar hit the crankbait. Both broke off as I was trying to get my cb back- the last time I lost my f...

Back to clear water...

Went to the Sabinal River for an annual trip, and had fun getting on em in Utopia. First day was a little slower, but figured em out on the second day catching size and numbers. Most were caught on watermelon rage craw's, but also found a craw crankbait pattern on a certain part of the river that pa...

Re: Fly fishing - Ruidoso

I know Texas provides lots of fly fishing opportunities- I just can't help picking up my baitcaster to go chase bass. Need to use the fly set up more often for sure! Thanks for checking out the video!

Spring break trip to New Mexico. Don't get to fly fish that much locally, so had fun with this recent trip.

Not from a yak, but thought I'd share. I found a couple mornings to get away and fish during a recent spring break trip to New Mexico. Enjoy

Somerville - Yegua creek

Hit up Yegua in search for white bass - found a few, but they were scattered. Lots of black bass. Used tandem jig's /micro chatterbait for whites and crankbaits / tx rigged rage tails for black bass. Here is the video recap...

Re: Trolling motor mount

Update... Tested out the new Trolling motor in a small lake, and it was a success. Mount held up like a champ. There was a slight lean to the motor side, but not enough to worry about. Achieved 3.5 mph - that usually what I'm at when paddling aggressively. Video is below... https://youtu.be/Uo8FRdXY...
