Re: Galveston considering to abandon the west bay access point on Sportsman's Road

Does anybody know what happened at the 5/16 Planning Commission hearing or 6/22 Council meeting?

Re: Sportsman road update (not good)

I finally ran into someone that knew something about the ramp closure. The homeowner told me... Galveston is appraising the ramp property to come up with land value and the homeowners on either side of the ramp are going to buy the property and split the cost making it private property. For several...

Back in November the launch had this sign: "Boat Ramp Access Closed".
Has that sign been removed?

Has anybody been there lately? Are the concrete barriers still there? Any signs saying the launch is closed?

I was watching some iCast 2022 videos and saw several of these in the demo area of the convention:

I have no idea how much they cost.

If you like the specs on the Kraken, check out the specs on the Hobie Revolution 13.

Don't they have a 25 ah 12 volt (or similar size) battery? If so you didn't use it much to last you all day.
How does that compare to the option from Bixpy?

Re: Suggest A Kayak for the Salt

If you decided to go Hobie, finding an Outback will be easier than finding a Revo 13 (new or used). That said, there's a 2018 Revo 13 on CL right now. Also, be aware that the Hobie Mirage drive has evolved over time. They added reverse (Mirage 180) several years ago. And kick-up fins more recently. ...

I say all this to tell you the battery is the probably most important part of your project. I strongly recommend getting a lifepo4 or saving up until you can. The difference in weight is huge. THIS! Check the classified section right here on TKF. I've got a brand new, never used lithium trolling mo...

Re: Austin Canoe & Kayak Sold?

Last September I was trying to track down a Hobie Revolution 13. ACK, both my local store and corporate, were less than helpful. FTU told me they had just placed their 2022 order, which didn't include any Revos, and could not revise their order. Based on this article, ACK quit ordering inventory and...

Bought by a private equity group means "grow the brand". How? As it states in the article, "... improve the product distribution process" and "... ramp up production...". I'm guessing the dealer network will be expanded or even opening new distribution channels. I would...

Wear That PFD!

As a Bell County game warden was wrapping up his day, he responded to a call on Belton Lake in regard to a capsized kayak with a female occupant who was unable to get back in and continued to cling to the boat as she drifted farther from the shoreline. The warden arrived to meet the local fire depar...

Thanks for the link to that review. I was hoping someone on here had experience with the 130x. My Tarpon 140 is fine. But I'd like to sit a tad higher. That was my reason for asking about the 130x. Maybe I'll try a seat pad. I seem to recall Dean, aka Slowride, using another seat on top of the OEM s...

Re: Wilderness Tarpon 130x reviews?

Guys, thanks for the feedback. The hull slap has me a bit concerned. I wonder if some weight redistribution might address that. There's nothing wrong with my T140. My interest in the T130x has as much to do with the seat as anything else. A little elevation might help my back (and keep my butt dry).

Wilderness Tarpon 130x reviews?

Does anyone have experience (own or demo) with the Wilderness Tarpon 130x?

Better yet... has anyone moved from the Tarpon 140 or 160 to the 130x?

Even better yet... has anyone used the Torqeedo Helix motor on a 130x (or other Wilderness yak)?

Thanks! (I will also post this on the Saltwater board.)
