Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JUNE 25, 2022 SATURDAY (((((UPDATES)))))*****
I don’t think I would be able to make it Sunday, but I could go Monday. If there ends up being a group that does Monday that wouldn’t mind letting a beginner tag along, let me know. (I’ve done BTB before, just at high island).

Add me to the list, not totally sure if I can make it but I certainly want to try! I’ve done BTB at high island several times but I’ve been itching to go farther out and try for some kingfish!

Re: Slabs Tuesday June 15th
I started using a whole hard head with the head, dorsal, and pectoral find cut off as bait, and the gafftop didn’t touch it, but I did get plenty of bites from sharks. I had 7 or 8 sharks on, but all but one threw the hook. Also at one point I set down a casting rod with a spoon on it while i turned...

Guide recommendations
I live in Beaumont, and I’ve had a kayak for a few years but I haven’t had much success. I mostly fish the Marshes in the Sabine lake area, but a lot of times I don’t feel like I know what I’m doing. I figure hiring a guide would be the quickest way fore to really learn the ropes and know what to lo...

Pleasure island levee this time of year.
I'm wanting to fish tomorrow and not sure if I'll have time to take out the kayaks. If I can't I think I'll hit the pleasure island levees. How do they normally produce this time of year? Would I be better of at the north or south levee? Thanks

Re: Walter Umphrey pier on pleasure island.
The fishing was alright. There were a couple large black drum and one slot red caught, as well as croaker, sand trout and a few undersized specks. You could see tons of the trout feeding under the lights but they were eating tiny glass minnows and were hard to catch. A few free lined live or dead sh...

Walter Umphrey pier on pleasure island.
I'm camping out at the pier on Friday with my scout troop. Has anyone had any success here lately? I've been before, but only in winter, so u didn't have much luck.

Re: Electrical tape instead of crimps for leaders
I had the same idea but I never took it as high tech as you did. I guess you'll never know till you try. I might make one with electrical tape anyway just to see if it holds up.

Re: Electrical tape instead of crimps for leaders
We'll I had to use .80mm trimmer line, but I Managed to make some single sleeves from academy work and made a few leaders. I also figured out that a hammer is much faster and more effective than a cheap crimping tool. Now I just have to get out there and try them out.

Re: Electrical tape instead of crimps for leaders
One more question, where do y'all get your crimps? I've been all over town to academy, walmart, and gander mountain and none of them have double barrel sleeves. Do y'all just order them online?

Electrical tape instead of crimps for leaders
I'm wanting to make some leaders for catching bull reds and sharks and have read about using trimmer line instead of mono to save money. I was wondering if I could use electrical tape instead of crimps too to save even more money. From what I've seen, crimping sleeves seem pretty expensive. I think ...

Steinhagen gator gar fishing
I'm visiting my friend in woodville on Wednesday, and we're planning on going to steinhagen lake to fish. I won't be able to take the kayaks because our truck is in the shop, so I was wondering if anyone had any good bank fishing spots around this area, especially for alligator gar, I really want to...

What is the advantage of mono over wire? Wire seems a whole lot cheaper.

Re: Where do yall get your leader material?
Another question I have is should I get swivels based on size or breaking strength? There are some 200 lb swivels that are in the 2/0 size, but I also saw some 200lb swivels that were only size 5.

Where do yall get your leader material?
I'm wanting to start by fishing this summer, but first I need to get some leaders made. From what I've read it seems like I need 400 lb monk, big swivels and hooks, and crimping pliers and materials. My question is where do you get all this stuff? I think they have the swivels and hooks at academy, ...

looking for hunting lease in Southeast texas area
I posted this in the hunting section, but I figured I'd post it here too since this seems to get more traffic. I'm looking for a deer lease close to beaumont, preferably within about half an hour. I don't really care about killing any monsters, I just want somewhere where I can go out and see deer m...

looking for lease in Southeast texas area
I live in beaumont and I'm looking for a deer lease close by, the closer the better. I'm looking to spend around 1000 or less a year. I don't care about monster deer, but I do want somewhere where I can see deer most sits, and have a solid chance at killing a decent buck. Thanks
