Re: Best soft-sided cooler?
You only need fancy coolers if you need to keep cold provisions for 2 to 3 days. Just about anything works for a day on the water. If you have both needs, you probably want both, and use them separately The front bag on this bike has a dedicated 6-pack ice mule. https://i.imgur.com/L5ZDTjzl.jpg Eng...

Re: Ready for the next one?
Thanks for another great read. I am no BTB expert but Blake aka Yakety Yak uses a “night night stick” for cobia. He recommends giving them a good solid whack on the head before attempting to land them. Who do you think taught Blake that trick? 😬 For normal sized cobia 20-40 lbs that’s how you do it...

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JUNE 25, 2022 SATURDAY****
Hey, does anyone have an extended forecast? It looks doable on Monday the 20th, but what about the 25th? We can see the Weatherunderground 10-day forecast which will include 6/25 tomorrow. Praying the wind and waves lay down so we can go out. I may go anyway and paddle in an empty boat for a few ho...

Re: New tip for offshore kayak anglers
There are lots of methods that work, and this is how I started out. It kept me from losing much gear so it was a good step as I learned. Eventually I got the empty boat into the surf to just play and learn what the boat and I were capable of doing. It will vary a lot from kayak to kayak and paddler...

Re: Time for a New Kayak??
My answer is always yes. But I'm a impulse buyer quite frequently. What are you using now? Are there features you don't have that you wish you did? What is your budget? Will you just be doing the smaller rivers? The Ocean Prowler 13 over 10 years in my garage, since the repair I have had it on a ne...

Time for a New Kayak??
Last summer my kayak became a holy one doing a trip down the San Marcos River. I repaired the hole and paddled on the local lake without problems the rest of the summer. Should I be considering a new yak?

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JUNE 25, 2022 SATURDAY****
For staking tents on the beach a auger style tent stake works well but can be hard to get out. If you have a freestanding hammock (that has it's own frame) I would just put it on the downwind side of your vehicle and you'll be fine no staking should be needed. I've done this with my tent cot and it...

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JUNE 25, 2022 SATURDAY****
My question is, I will be sleeping in a hammock on the beach. What stakes do you use to stake out tents and hammocks on the beach in the sand?

Re: Kayak Repair Followup
My plan is to put a better plug into the hole, then trim the material as close as possible to the keel and cover it with a layer of HDPE2 with wire mesh, and then a layer of yellow (from Ocean Kayaks) over the repair. I will then cover the area with Gator Guards Kayak Keel Guard per instructions.

Re: Kayak Repair Followup
I am trying to repair my 10+-year-old Ocean Prowler 13 with a hole in the stern keel. The hole is about the size of a pencil. The plan is to overstuff the hole and trim it to look ok, then layer the area with two layers of HDPE2 with wire mesh between the layers. Hoping to find yellow but already ha...

Re: Training hard!
Prof my training hard is going to the local lake, trying once a week and paddle as long as possible. Sometimes this is with the waves of bass, ski, ski-doo boats and maintain your balance. Overall be safe and practice your re-entry in to your yak.
