Re: South Houston (pearland) kayak fishing club

I am interested in kayak fishing, but I have no experience in the sport. I would like to join a group to get experience from those who have been doing this for awhile. I'm in. Sorry to break it to you, but this club only lasted a couple of years and was dissolved in 2019 I think. There is no longer...

Very interesting. I see where Hobie released their pedal drive, where does the other pedal drive type fall on that timeline?

Re: What Hobie? And some advice on rockport area.

Definitely demo the Hobies you are thinking of buying. And when demo'ing them, paddle them with a paddle as well because even though that is not the main way you will use them. It is something to think about. Drives can break or it can just be too shallow to use the drive inshore in some spots. The ...

Re: Night time lights 3/31

I love fishing the lights with those little crappie jigs. I also like the V crappie jigs too. My other go to in the lights are Chicken Boy Bubba Clucker in Johnny Goldfish or Silver Tongue Devil. The Bubba Clucker has a shorter length, so the hook is closer to the back. I also discovered that the Tr...

Re: TSL Grasswalker Review

I forgot to add that I did land the bigger fish of the night on the TSL. I was also using Chickenboy's Bubba Clucker in the clear with gold or silver glitter and those were doing well too but they are a smaller bait and I was catching some undersized fish with that. Everything that I caught on the T...

Re: axis deer

I know this is a late reply. But Axis are not a native species to Texas. They probably don't compete with cattle as much for food sources as they do with the whitetail deer population. Axis are bigger and can be more aggressive than the whitetail deer.

Re: TSL Grasswalker Review

I was fishing the canal lights the other night. I put the TSL to work and it did not disappoint. The action of the lure and how slow it can be worked, greatly aided in keeping the lure in the light longer.

Re: How Many Hooksets

I guess it depends on the hit from the fish.

Either way, I have a buddy that has one hookset and one only. Reel down and swing for the fences. We try to tell him that it is really not necessary but he just gets so drove up every time he gets a bite, he does it anyway.

Re: Llano River and Perdernales River

Nice report, it sounds like a nice weekend. I agree I would take a river bass over a lake bass any day. Btw from the picture that looks like a Guadalupe bass the state fish of Texas. do you think so? my Nephew said it was a smallmouth and his much more of a bass guy than me. I only caught my first ...

Llano River and Perdernales River

I spent the weekend in the Hill Country and while I didn't take a kayak, I did take some fishing gear and fish from the river bank. Caught my first smallmouth bass this trip as well. I fished the Llano river down stream of the dam near the bridge on TX16. The bass here we found were small but hit ha...

Re: Looking for recent (after Harvey)beach driving condition from Beach Rd, Matagorda to Mitchell's Cut

you can get the beach pass permit at Stanley's there just before you cross the bridge, costs $10. As for the beach or passes on the beach being passable, I am sure they are because no one has raised a fuss over them being impassable but I do not have any first had knowledge post Harvey.
