Re: BTB fishing this weekend

Dave,

You should make the Corpus drive. I live in Houston and went BTB in Corpus three times last year. It is worth the three hour drive.

@doslocosranch
Not many things on this board that make me go "Wow" but that setup with the Hobies on the boat lift is one of them. Damn nice setup.

Re: Beach update, Galveston west end. Finally looks good.

Surf was rough at the first bars this morning, but pretty flat farther out. I didn’t feel like getting wet so drive over to the Galveston Fishing Pier, paid my $15, and caught 6-7 really nice Spanish mackerel. I lost a bunch more because they kept shredding my leader and slicing thru my Vudu mullet,...

Thanks for the report. I, too, amd a huge fan of Christmas Bay and plan on spending a lot of time there soon. For me, it’s been a whole lot of canal lights at night.

A friend of mine in Sea Isle just has very wide steps that go down to the water level on one side.

Re: Freeport 28-Aug-2022

You need to hook up with the Hobie Navy and join them on one of their nights in the canal lights. Now's a good time of the year if you slather on the skeeter repellent. I've met them at the Sea Isle boat ramp and they seem like nice guys... That's just a hop and a skip (and a $2 toll bridge) from F...

53A2143A-D5C3-4420-A110-A633B76FBF02.png I launched right around 10:15p on a spur of the moment trip. The tide was out and still moving pretty good. According to the solunar, the major was 11:40-1:40a so that was my plan since I was flying solo. The wind was dead, the water was moving pretty good, ...

Re: Corpus Christi Area - Aransas Pass Area - Living

So many factors to consider. Budget? Kids? Race/ethnicity? Job locations? Do you want to live on the mainland or the island? My prior law firm was based in Corpus so I made fairly regular “work” trips down there. I never thought about living in CC until I realized how affordable it is compared to Ho...

Thanks for posting, Prof. Makes me want to get down there for a BTB soon.

Not sure how long those Stealths are, but I have car topped a T160 on my Sequoia and my buddy used to top his T160 on a Nissan Maxima.

The Hobies were game changers as far as fishing goes. I can carry them on the rooftop of my Sequoia. Holy beefcakes Batman! you load and unload those Hobies on the roof of an SUV  Impressive, but definitely not for the aged or normal sized person  I do, but one is an Outback and the oth...

Re: Kayak reccomendations

I would 100% get two kayaks. My 15 yr old son has been kayaking with me solo since he was about 9-10 yrs old. My wife goes infrequently. Started out in two paddling kayaks but now have two Hobies. The Hobies were game changers as far as fishing goes. I can carry them on the rooftop of my Sequoia. No...

Re: Medina River 08-06-2022 - It Ain't Pretty, Y'all

Yowza. I’m going to go eat an edible now. And I’m sure that probably used a shit ton of water to make, from the growing of the plant to processing it into a gummy, packaging and shipping, and god forbid the CO2 emissions from the private jet I had to fly back from Seattle on so I didn’t have to go t...

@niswanger Nice footage of that spinner getting air. My son said when my first kingfish ever hit my line last year that it went about four feet in the air. All I heard was the splash. Wish I had cool footage like yours.

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, AUGUST 6, 2022 SATURDAY (((((UPDATES)))))*****

I’m no expert but my experience has been drive pulled and rudder up and use my paddle to steer and keep me surfing the wave in. I have only been BTB a handful of times but have managed to stay upright the past three times doing it this way. And FWIW, my teenager has never turtled. I suspect it is be...

Re: Standing and fishing

I have been kayak fishing for roughly 15 years and have never on e felt the need or urge to stand in any of my kayaks. Not that I probably couldn’t as I too was a D1 gymnast with pretty good balance still. I just like sitting low, pedaling or paddling along, and trying to catch a fish every once in ...
