Re: 4-16-20 Galveston once again!!

Man I looked at gas prices yesterday and this old post popped in my head and I had to laugh :) ...... Before I arrived to the launch spot, I stopped at Buc-ee's. The gas prices kept getting better each time I made a trip to Galveston. https://i.imgur.com/MZY8Pdf.jpg Hey my log in still works and you...

Re: SUP fishing?

All good info and consideration. I guess i was thinking the SeaEagle has the built in trolling motor mount which I'd plan on using. Though I have the trolling motor mount for my fta385 and I never use it because it's a hassle... lol. I like inflatables because I can stow them in my camper for a road...

SUP fishing?

The Hobie Lynx thread got me thinking... I know we had a few topics on this a few years ago. I poopooed the idea, but then I've been seeing more advertising for stand up paddle board fishing platforms. Also the whole microskiff/ BOTE fishing done by some Youtubers (Thresher). I'm not sure if a BOTE ...

Re: How were fish kept in the old days?

Interesting. I always take the gills out as well. My dad said he gutted the fish but turns out he left the gills. I wasn't sure if it would matter so I left it. I know that's where all the blood goes though so that could make sense, the blood stayed in the fish. Also the fridge probably just didn't ...

How were fish kept in the old days?

OK, this might be a silly question. If I plan to keep fish, always carry a fish bag, and/ or have an ice chest in my truck. I went fishing with my mom and dad this weekend and this time the packing was up to my parents, they didn't bring any ice. We caught a red fish and kept it. Threw it in the tru...

Was good to meet a few new faces up there. That's me in the Heritage Redfish with a 40-50 lb Jack in Oldtowntater's post!

Here are a couple of pics I took.

Re: *****BOB HALL PIER - BTB, JUNE 13, 2021 SUNDAY***** ((((((((((UPDATES))))))))))

Question about the launch spot, do we need a beach pass just to park at the spot we will be launching for the day? Last year we did but it was a different launch spot. I'm going to Matagorda Saturday to drop off the camper, will see if they have ribbons. I was told in years past that since we are g...

Re: Making a 6 foot fiberglass stakeout pole

How to make an awesome stakeout pole that lasts forever. https://youtu.be/yTIJuTLmQsY Thanks for sharing. I'll give this a try. Right now I use a homemade Cajun anchor, made out of a aluminum grounding rod I cut down to about 1.5 foot. Drilled a hole and put an D ring at the top. I tie my anchor li...

Re: We are our own worst enemy....

ahh, a favorite spot with a chain across the ramp blocking boat trailers. Yeah, we can stage and rig here on this private ramp, but if a boat trailer had permission to launch, we would be staging on the grass. Just curious, but is it legal to launch a kayak on a chained off area? I've seen numerous...

Hey Blake, I meant to tell you last year, your link to the Delaware paddle sports bag no longer works, and when I went searching for it last year it seemed they discontinued it. https://www.delawarepaddlesports.com/delaware-paddlesports-insulated-storage-bag-large/ Do you have any other ideas? Re: Cold Enough For You?!

Frozen wind turbines and lack of natural gas supply is the main culprit: http://www.ercot.com/news/releases/show/225151 And it's being compounded by generating units falling off grid: http://www.ercot.com/news/releases/show/225210 Hey, at least we are carbon neutral, right guys!? ... Re: Freeport Groundhog Day

It seems like whenever you are kayak fishing, everything that could possibly go wrong, goes wrong. You quickly get to the "F it" stage and either go home or unleash the beast, push through the agrivation, and then end up having a great day afterwards.

Re: Brazoria side of SLP

I think you mean Follet's Island side? I'm pretty sure you can. You aren't allowed to swim there and I don't think you can fish from the bank either past the signs, but I didn't see any signs that say you can't launch a boat or kayak, or no trespassing. That said, I've never done it and it's been aw...

If SLP wasn't as long of a drive I'd be down there in a heartbeat. Thing is I do some wading them go back to work (pack a change of clothes). Also, I heard captain Scott Null say when fish are feeding on tiny bait, use a clear lure with glitter. The glitter looks like a school of small bait. No idea...

Thus, anyone have any good luck around Galveston yesterday with the 3 ft water movement? I'm late to the party, but I wade fished SWP south flats in the 25 mph winds on the 3rd from 6:30 to 10. Watched the water running out good over the few hours with the beach line getting lower and lower. Not a ...

Re: What is a jerk shad supposed to mimic?

I think you only need to worry about "matching the hatch" when the fish are clearly feeding on something specific. Such as fish under the birds are feeding on a particular school. Or flounders when they are feeding on glass minnows. Or fish under the lights on glass minnows :\
