Re: New to Kayaking
Thanks for the replies. No, it wasn't Jim Gray. Sorry, I don't know who he might be. I will take a look at the link provided. I tried measuring the kayak's width, and doing it by my self it looked like 30" at the beam. If it's the same as the ones in the link (and it appears they are), the lin...

Re: Memorial Sunday PINS Trip
Too bad about the reel but that's still a great story and sounds like a great trip! I've never heard of or thought about swimming the kayak in thru the breakers. Makes sense tho...barring equipment failures of course.

Re: Problem with older Lowrance x4 pro
I have a Lowrance X4 Pro several years old. It has not been used in a long time. I hooked it up to my new Hobie and when I power it up, the depth flashes 60 feet. I am testing it on dry ground, not in water. Do I have a bad transducer or need a hard reset? Advice please. It's not going to read prop...

I found a bottle at Academy about 8 months ago on a clearance shelf and I've been rationing it ever since. I need some new supply! Thanks for the heads up Professor!

Imanoldmanyoungsalt, if that’s your favorite place I’m sure we fish the some of the same areas. I have a lemongrass 15 foot trident kayak and a white Silverado with a kayak rack on the back. If you ever see this description stop by. Oh yeah I also have a TKF sticker on the back window I love it the...

Re: Hoodoo?
I was just out at Wise Park around 10:30 this morning showing my son so as soon as my wife lets us, I can bring him along. There was only like 3 trailers at the boat ramp. 1 RV and 2 campsites. Basically had the place to ourselves. Also wanted to scope out the water level. We got there a little aft...

Re: Hoodoo?
Yep, that's the one, right by the golf course. Last time I went up there it was low water and no wind. Water was very stagnate. Wouldn't want to dip my toes in if you know what I mean. I think it'd be a nice paddle after a good rain to kinda clear it out a little bit. Speaking of the trails south o...

Re: Hoodoo?
Grace Fellowship in Paradise. We have grade-school kids and they really love it there. Most of their friends go there. Off chance have you ever tried fishing that paddling trail on the south side of Bridgeport? I've been on it a few times with no luck. Heard it's mainly packed with gar and carp. Th...

Re: Roll call
I'm west of the FW area, Paradise actually. I guess my normal spots are Lake Bridgeport and the LBJ Grassland lakes. Mainly Black Creek. I tried Cottonwood but haven't had any luck and never really mark fish there either. Tried the Brazos below PK once and would really like to hit it more and get i...

I'll have to check that place out. What church do you go to? We go to Fathers House on 380. Or at least my wife does. I work Sundays so I go to all the other services, Bible studies, etc.

Re: Hoodoo?
That is a big bonus being the lake has so many geographical features to it. I don't suppose you were at Brandi's today around noon? As we were leaving I spotted a pretty sweet Old Towne in the bed of a white truck. Not sure where Brandis is but, no, it wasn't me. I worked all day. I drive a black F...

Re: Hoodoo?
I do have some Roadrunner jig heads that are similar to those you sent the link from. At least that's one less lure I'll have to go out and buy. lol. My tackle box looks like an add from 1990's Gander Mtn catalog. I really need to update it. I was hoping to hit Bridgeport this weekend but winds are...

That is seriously the most helpful information I've received yet. THANK YOU!!! I made a post on here asking for some help along the same lines and I think I got 1 response but what you've described in detail is extremely helpful. I do have some of those type lures. The squarebill, rat-l-trap, blade...

Re: Roll call
I'm still here on occasion but maybe not enough to consider "active" anymore. Talked to you on the "Hoodoo" thread though. I usually go to Bridgeport with my son, my wife and/or a buddy of mine pretty often (although only a few times this year so far) so if you ever want to fish ...

Re: Hoodoo?
I've had my tempest a few years now and had zero mechanical issues with the drive. Between my wife, my children, and myself, we've logged a whole lot of miles in it. I now fish from an old town Predator and the difference is night and day. For an entry level kayak and at its price point, the Tempes...

Re: Record bass!
They already are and have been for a few years now. The lake has already produced 8 bass over 13lbs this year and it produced 12 last year. No telling how many 10-12lbers have been caught and released as well. FFS has changed the game on that lake for sure.

Re: Stakeout pole holder on Hobie Outback?
Since moving to the Houston area, I’ve come to rely on a stakeout pole to hold me into place in the shallow stuff. I started sticking it through the bungee paddle holders on either side of the yak. That doesn’t hold very well as the bungee stretches and doesn’t hold me in place very well. What I’ve...

Re: New kayaker
I've thought about Texoma, maybe camp at Eisenhower and put in from there. I hear you on the open waters in that lake, big boats! I recommend the Screen shelters at Eisenhower for camping unless you have an RV. They do have one actual cabin for rent as well but I've never stayed in it. It's always ...

Re: New kayaker
Being as you're north of Dallas, you should hit up Texoma. It's arguably the best striper fishery in the country and it has a great largemouth and smallmouth population too. It has some really large coves where you can fish all day and avoid the wind and most of the boat traffic. You should keep you...

Re: Bastrop Bayou 9-8-2022
I quite often hook gar on lures......actually getting them to the boat and landing them doesn't happen very often . Like Tenore, I got lucky on the one in the pic and hooked him right in the upper, back part of the jaw (corner of the mouth) and the hook came all the way thru the outside of hi...
