Duck Hunting Blind Recommendations

Anyone have a good duck blind they can recommend? I built one a few years ago but it’s too clunky. I have a heritage angler 12. Just trying to get back into bird hunting this year. Thank you!

Rollover Pass Trip Planned Aug 1-4

Hello everyone. My brother and I are heading down to Crystal Beach with our wives Aug 1-4. I am wanting to try to catch some fish in the mornings but I have little experience down on bolivar. If you have any tips or experience with this area I would appreciate the input. From what I am seeing Rollov...

Re: Flooded Lake Catfish

The wind was blowing away from the bank I had access to launch from. I couldn't find the bait fish with everything being up in the trees but it was still fun to be out on the water. It is a weird feeling paddling out to the middle of a lake on Memorial Day Weekend and hearing nothing on a popular la...

Flooded Lake Catfish

Hello everyone! I am heading out to Lake Somerville this weekend and it is about 14.6 ft above full. I am looking to try to get into some catfish for a fish fry. I know how to catch a stringer full during normal lake levels. I am just wondering if I need to alter my approach while it is flooded or s...

Re: Flounder Gigging Ideas/Advice

I have made lights before but I didn't use an LED and the heat the light put off mixed with the water cooling it down caused quite a problem with the PVC. I am sure it will be better this time around. Do you have a picture of the lights installed on your rig? and did you just use clear silicon to se...

Re: Flounder Gigging Ideas/Advice

Would something like this be ok? I have white lights that I can make work for the one on the back and it wouldn't be a big issue to wire them all to the same battery. I just don't want to do it myself and then get a ticket or hit by a boat. Thank you! https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/magellan-outdoo...

Flounder Gigging Ideas/Advice

Hello everyone, I am thinking about taking the yak down to one of a few different areas soon looking for flounder. I am thinking Christmas bay, chocolate bayou, or somewhere on Galveston island. I have the gigs and lanterns that I have used in the past for walking some flats but I have never done it...

These are what she grabbed.

They were only $3.00 in the store. So if it makes it through more than 1 trip I'll be happy with them.

Re: Catfishing: Stringer/Soft Cooler/Icechest

Thanks. My wife picked up a few soft cooler bags so I will give them a shot instead of my stringer. I always clip the fins so they don't stab each other so I will make sure to keep doing that. Do you use any type of liner when you put them in there or just clean it as best you can after you use it?

Catfishing: Stringer/Soft Cooler/Icechest

Catfish season is upon us and I am wanting to see what you all think the best way to keep them. I am partial to a stringer but it can get crazy on deck if you keep a lot of fish and don't want to drag them back through the water. I keep a milk crate for gear behind me and I fish out of the Heritage ...

Re: Lake Somerville Help

I went up birch creek. I thought it would be more protected from the wind and there is a boat ramp right there.

Re: Lake Somerville Help

Cold, foggy, rained just enough to get you damp so the slight wind really chilled you to the bone. But I also didn’t catch any fish. Still better than not being on the water. I appreciate your help!

Re: Lake Somerville Help

Would it be best to walk down by the dam or is there somewhere else that I should go? The lake looks to be a little full (about 5 ft over normal). If they have the dam open that will push a lot of water down the creek. Or are you talking about the west side of the lake? Thank you for your input.

Lake Somerville Help

Hello everyone! I haven't been able to get out in the yak lately (at least 6 months) with all the work and toddler running around. I have an opening this weekend and I am thinking of heading out on Lake Somerville to target some crappie. Anyone having luck? if so, any help would be appreciated. I am...

Re: First Saltwater Trip Advice

Thank you for all of the advice! We went out and the morning was nice. We caught 2 rat reds and a hardhead. When it was time to leave the wind killed us. It took us over 2.5 hours of paddling to get back. Next time we will try to make sure the winds aren't as heavy. Good luck to everyone!

First Saltwater Trip Advice

Hello everyone! My brother and I are making our first saltwater trip in the kayaks next weekend(3/31). We were thinking about putting in at Louis' Bait Camp and paddling around from there but are willing to try somewhere else if we need to. We have no idea where a good place to start is and going th...
