Amazon $33 Fly Fishing Challenge?

Post by TexasJim »

Just heard about the Amazon $33 Challenge. An 8-foot 5/6 wt 3-piece rod, a reel, line, leader, instruction book, and six flies for $33.00 or less, shipped! How many of those will show up on the Guad for the trout run? Might be a boon for flycast instructors. Maybe not so good for the regular stream and river fishers. Who knows? Might be the biggest thing for flyfishing since "A River Runs Through It". Never a dull moment. TexasJim

In most fishing tackle, Get What You Pay For is an axiom.

Fly tackle, on the other hand, can go to silly extremes - we were just discussing $700 fly reels on FFR.

Ebay used to be the world's garage sale, and patient auction sniping could get you quality used tackle, or even stashed unused tackle, at wholesale prices.

The norm today is a 10,000-widget run from China - see Get What You Pay For.

At the current exchange rate, Japan shopping is the best deal - it's the language barrier that takes patience.
