Capt Joey Farah was not in hurry to get on the water when we met at mile marker 37 boat ramp at 6:30. He told us that the minor would be late morning and the the previous day the action it was slow until around 10:00. He was right. The action did not pick up until mid morning and then everyone on this boat hooked up to fish. We drifted the Kind Ranch Shoreline throwing soft plastics. Joey had 10 rods rigged up with plastics. 9 were all white Downsouth plastics. The last rod had a black and red plastic tied on. If all you had was one a pack white down south soft plastics on a 1/8th jig head you would fine.
My brother lives in Maryland and mainly fishes for Striped bass in Cheasapeake bay. He is an excellent fisherman, but he was having a difficult time catching trout. Later that day he told me it is different then any other fishing he had ever done before. You have to keep your rod up high, set the hook hard and then rip them in without giving these fish any slack. AT the beginning of the trip Joey was catching 3-4 trout for every fish he boated, later on in the day he was on a roll and started to feel the bite and fight the fish properly without giving them any slack to shake off.
We caught over 100 trout on that trip. Most were small, but we landed a number of keeper trout, one 28 inch redfish and one 26 inch trout. There are miles of flats to fish with a kayak out in corpus area and slowly drifting and covering water is a effective strategy.

Thank you for posting this report. I used to paddle across to King Ranch Shoreline from Bird Island Basin to fish. Well, on the really calm days.
