The little guy was really looking at the bucket funny and walking around it when we had the lid off of it. So we took it off to get a quick vid. Well the little one grabbed a finger mullet and the big one started towards the bucket and I chased if off. He should have been quicker if he was hungry. I have had the little one eat out of my hands a few times.

I had a 5 gallon bucket with over a dozen finger mullet sitting by my truck while surf fishing one day. When I got ready to dump them out at the end of the day, there wasn't a single one left. I never did see the theft.

My wifes grandfather, my father in law, and I were at the North Jettie in Galveston a few years ago. My wifes grandfather cast, while the line was in the air he got a run on it, a sea gull caught his shrimp in mid cast and started flying with it. It flew about 20 more yards and we saw his hook and leader hit the water with no bait on it.

I was working on a Gulf shrimper around 35 or so yrs ago, cold front blew in, no other boats out there and we dumped the net onto the deck and went in to get t cup of coffee. Looked out the window and the gulls just covered the deck going thru the pile of unculled shrimp. Hell they weren't picking out the trash fish in the pile, hell no, they were only going after the shrimp. It looked like a scene from A.H.'s The Birds. We were out there trying to soo the damn things tossing them away from the boat but they would come right back even with us standing around the pile.
I ask the TDF&G about this and they said that these birds were raised on following shrimp boats, and with no other boats out there pushing the culls over they were just hungery and we were their feast.
