I previously posted this in the Fishing Reports forum, but since Bro Bob would like to see more action on the AKA section, I thought l would re-post here in case someone missed it. Not a local report, but hopefully you can enjoy it anyway.
Headed out of Austin around 8 pm Thurs Nov 19, arriving at Breton Sound Marina in Hopedale, LA(Southeast of New Orleans) just in time to help my buddy launch his boat, buy bait and start fishing.
First day was not much to write home about, difficult finding a good bite, day started out windy, but ended with the water like glass. Able to cobble together a decent box cleaning 33 that evening with 24 specks, 6 whites, 2 sheephead and a redfish.
The weather for the second day was questionable at best. The weather radar was on the computer at the bait stand and showed a large storm west of NOLA with a lot of yellow and some red and it was moving our way. Rain gear ready, so off we go with lowered expectations. Set up on our spot and proceeded to catch specks, then mixed in a few nice reds. Moved to another location and caught a few more specks and another nice red. Fished two locations and filled the box with a 2 man limit of 50 specks and topped it off with 3 reds and 2 drum.
Here is the shot from the cleaning table:
At the cleaning table that evening, there were several who had loaded up on the flounder. Folks down there don't mind telling you where they caught them or how, so our last morning out, we decided to hit some flatties, finished off a 2 man limit of 20 within 3 hours. Throw in some specks, 2 drum and a nice red to finish the day off with 38 on the cleaning table.
Here is the haul:
lf you are keeping score at home, that is a 3 day total of 126 fish cleaned and with all the throw backs, l imagine the two of us caught near 250 fish. All fish were caught on live bait-shrimps or storm minnows, aka mud minnows, etc, etc, either under a popping cork or Carolina rigged off the bottom. l also threw in a ultra light spinning rig and had a blast on the flounder!
The best part of the trip for me was that l caught a personal best trout, flounder and red all on the same morning. l guess you cannot call it a Texas Slam if it occurs in LA, so since it was a personal best on all 3, then l will just call it a Grand Slam!

Holy smokes! That's what I call a meat haul! Nice report and I wish I could get into them half that thick next time I get a chance to head to the coast.
