Keith ---- Great to meet you. Thanks for hooking us up Saturday morning with James. We had a blast. Was fun to listen to James get louder as he caught more fish.

Re: Thanks Texans!!!
Keith,
You guys were the awesome ones! The Classic was all that it was billed as...great fellowship, smoothly run, and benefiting great causes! And 450+ Anglers...WOW! The JAX group offered help and support to us from the start. Thanks for making it a memorable event.
Too bad the fish were not as accommodating as the people of Jax Kayak Fishing.com
We need to get these two great Kayak Fishing websites together again...I-10 runs west too.

I agree, we do need to get together again. Maybe we can do Fla, one year and Tex the next (That means 2011........... we coming to Texas!!! ) Actually I would like to head that way before then. I have a Very Good friend that just moved back to Houston last month. Ive been trying to get him to fish out of a kayak for years, and I think the brick finally hit him in the head, cause he called me a few weeks back asking about what kayak to buy..
We will keep in touch, and I'll be lurking your site............

You Texas are always welcome to Florida. I had the pleasure to put up for the night, Slowride, Mrs Slowride and Kendall, and then fish with them. I got to meet Joe Poole and Gasman and lots of other Texans and you guys are awesome. Come back to Florida anytime.

Hey Keith...thanks to you and James for the access to our spot and all the advice. You guys put together one heck of a tournament! Wish we could have that kind of turnout here with the same format.
Look us up if you are ever down this way and tell all of your cohorts thanks for making it a trip to remember!

No the thanks goes to you Dreads and the rest of the organizers. My wife and I were constantly approached and thanked for coming all the way from Texas it was a real warm welcome from everyone in Florida. I was glad to be a part of such a first class event and for a great cause. Thanks again!
Re: Thanks Texans!!!
I really enjoyed myself..unfortunately all I could muster on tourney day was a lone 16" trout...which I was stokes as it was the only trout I caught in 3 trips...started catching 2 jack crevalle on every cast on a single mirrolure mirrodine XL..one on the front hook..and one on the back hook.. that was kinda fun might take a return trip to apply all that I learned about the area from this trip...I will never curse a slack tide again.. Next time I'll bring some gear for bait..

Good times--good times--good times!
It was fun meeting new folks and putting some faces with the TKF avatars. I hope everyone made it home safely.
I'll say this: Of all the folks our group encountered, none were rude. They all represented Jacksonville professionally, warmly, and their hospitality was greatly appreciated. I had a blast even with loose lines. Like Vincent said, plan for bait fishing instead of arties.
I am off to the garage to clean my equipment and re-inject some Texas MOJO into my gear.

Seriously, thanks JAX. A great event and a great cause.
Special thanks to my teammates Fil, Clint and Rick for driving all the gear and making it possible for me to attend the tourney.

Re: Thanks Texans!!!
I've been sitting here, all rested up from the trip, reading about all the great experiences we had and reliving my own.
Now I've figured out how how you can drive 1,000 miles, not catch fish, and STILL have a great time! It all has to do with the PEOPLE that you hang out with on the trip. It was not only the Floridians and their gracious southern hospitatlity, but also all the Texans that decided to make the trip out there. I couldn't have hand-picked a better bunch to represent the Great State of Texas! But, without the warm welcome, helpful fishng hints, and beautiful weather, the lack of fish would have been almost unbearable. We learned that there IS a place for live/dead bait. We also learned that you can't always take out where you launch! Texas fishing has surely spoiled us and we learned to appreciate how easily we catch fish back here. Those guys have to grind out a decent limit under some pretty tough every-day conditions.
Thanks to Mike and all the Classic crew for the smoothest run big event I've ever attended! Thanks to all the new friends I met and thanks to all the Texans who braved the trip! It ALL was awsome!

Re: Thanks Texans!!!
Yep - killer tourney - killer people.
Seeing new territory, unusual conditions, and spending time with like-minded outdoorsmen and women make the 1,000 trek well worth it.
I shot loads of great stuff while there - the July Kayak Angler magazine will carry a good chunk of it (unless I mess up with this story I'm writing now - heh).

I also would like to thank all of you Texans that made the trip to visit us.
I heard a lot of stories from you guys about how much easier it is to fish so my cousin and I are going to make a trip out there. It will be a few months but we will definitely come. I was told that our tide change is killer compaired to yours and would like to experience what it is like their. If you guys need anything at all, I am GoneFishin on the JAX site.
Once again, thanks for coming.

Had a great time on this trip! The people of Jacksonville are some of the nicest people you'll ever find. Tides were like a river flow and not much grass flats. We were all out of our element and our group learned a lot for next year.
Quotes from the trip.
What-a-burger for breakfast again? I'd like the same combo I had yesterday.
Were ya'll the Texans in the back corner at the captains meeting?
Lone Star Beer in Florida is illegal
There's 5 Hooters restaurants on the GPS but only one open.
Mobile Al has been 24miles away for the last 30miles.
Black Alligators on the side of the road. (truck tires)
You guys from Texas are sure proud of your state!
"Dean, You got room at your table, this one's bad luck for the raffle"
Thanks for the warm welcome Jacksonville! We had a blast!
