Being that the camping forum no longer is sponsored, I would like it to be combined with the Freshwater Forum again. The trips we take would get a lot more exposure than being here. What's your opinion of this?
Re: Forum
I am not sure why sponsorship is really an issue to anyone except to the owner. I opposed this forum when the idea was suggested, but it has proved a viable one. It has been every bit as viable or more so than freshwater was when I arrived. Certainly the builders forum is not the place to announce a camping trip if the intent is to include anyone other than boat crafters. You have a camping forum, fresh water forum and a builders forum. Of the three the builders forum seems the least logical of all.
I am sorry some have sought to undermine this forum from the start. Since this and the builders forum both split off from freshwater and are primarily used by freshwater users I will support combining one back when both folded back into the freshwater forum.
As to getting the word out it is easy enough to post in the appropriate forum and post links to related forums so that input is centralized to one forum. It was a solution suggested to me long ago by one of the moderators of the Freshwater Forum.

Re: Forum
Sponsorship is a fact of life and if we didnt have them you would not be enjoying this forum for free.
The freshwater forum ,bass fishing forum and camping forum all over lap on topics, fishing camping yaks and gear.
The boat builders , hunting , ot , gd , dont .
You can post a link that is true and the best we can do right now.
We all like and gripe about speed of the forum. and this is another reason to stream line the forums.
It also gives better coverage and information exposure to folks post on any subject.
I hope they combine them I can see no benefit to separating them and I see it not being beneficial with multiple forum that over lap

Dave
I think you have some great reports and it proves my point folks that just frequent camping completely miss your reports.

I disagree with this statement , I paddle fish and camp with folks from the builders board forum more than any one else on here so it was perfectly logical choice to post it there. But I also have friends that are on the camping forum , freshwater and new folks that I have yet to meet.
I dont dislike this forum or any of them ,
After making that statement I want to ask a question
what are the reasons for keeping this forum open and what things can you do here that you cant do in freshwater?

Re: Forum
It would not bother me if camping went to fresh water.(where would that leave the salt campers ).. But I feel fishing report forum could go away and fishing post could be under salt/fresh water forums ...

Re: Forum
That's what I was thinking too. I post my reports in the report section because that's where they're supposed to go. But I miss some reports because I'm usually looking in the Fresh or Salt water forum. Lately, I've just been using the "view new posts" button and that keeps me updated on everythinglarry long shadows wrote:But I feel fishing report forum could go away and fishing post could be under salt/fresh water forums ...
Re: Forum
I will ask again what concern is sponsorship to you or I? That is in the bailiwick of the owner and I have not heard from him.bowgarguide wrote:Sponsorship is a fact of life and if we didnt have them you would not be enjoying this forum for free.

That said I just took a quick count. We have 13 forums that are non-sponsored and 5 that are. Now if Stubbs wants to cvondense down to 5 forums that is his call. But for the purposes of this discussion I think sponsorship is inconsequential.

Hursh
You would argue with a fence post.
Read my quote that you put up and I think it says it all as far a sponsors go.
The second thing is look back a Darrels post ,it was mentioned there.

Larry and Sam , I agree with you and feel the more we stream line for speed on the site and get more exposure to

Re: Forum
Well, it's really just a matter of focus and organization. There is nothing you can do here that you can't do in freshwater. And there's nothing you can post in a freshwater forum that you couldn't just post in a single kayak fishing forum. Organizing posts into separate forums is simply a way of making information more easily accessible. I think we can all agree that one forum wouldn't be enough. Eighteen may be too many. Personally, I like having a camping forum, but I am pretty fanatic about camping, and like having a place where I can easily keep up with others who share that passion. Which, after all, is what message boards are all about.bowgarguide wrote:I want to ask a question

Leave those Crazy BTB guys alone they need there own Forum..... thats another ball game in its self.....
Re: Forum
No Ron it is not a matter of arguing with a fence post and I have addressed the point to both you and Darrell when you each brought it up. My question is why are the two of you concerned with the financial side of this operation when we are not hearing from Stubbs? With 72% of all the forums here not having sponsors, sponsorship does not seem a viable argument in this discussion.bowgarguide wrote:Hursh

Re: Forum
Seems that you are saying that even if there were no camping forum you would not post to freshwater either because your buds hang in the builders forum. I would assume that is because your friends read only the builders forum and not freshwater. Otherwise you could have originated your post there and caught everyone.bowgarguide wrote:Certainly the builders forum is not the place to announce a camping trip if the intent is to include anyone other than boat crafters. Re: Forum
Like Fisher my greatest interest of a number of lessers is the camping side of kayak/canoe floating. I read the camping forum 2:1 over Freshwater.
Yes I would read camping posts in Freshwater there also but would have to dig them out. The builders forum started in Freshwater and could be combined back there as well. But then you would have to dig them out among all the other posts. Your interest in the builders forum is the same as mine in this forum.

Hursch
I am not into arguing but I will make this where maybe you can understand what I am saying.
If you have a sponsored forum you are not going to close or combine it.
You dont know if I have talked to Stubs or Clay about this.
Really non of your business..But it has been discussed.
As for as posting in the boat builders forum , I should have explained to you this was in the present not in the future ,so that is why it is posted this way.
Now that we have all the trivial bs out of the way lets get back to the topic that was posted.
If you want to cross words Hursch take it to one of the forums for that not in here.
Thanks
Ron

Your wrong Hursch
If the builders forum wasnt sponsored I would like to see it back in freshwater, I believe a lot of interest was generated that way.
