I use the GoPro Hero2. I think I got the outdoor package. I get about 3hrs of battery life. I carry two batteries with me.

I have one. It's very small, but takes good video. The video is kind of 'fish eye' though, so if you want regular type video, get a Kodak Playsport or Samsung waterproof camera. I haven't gotten it to work well in low light yet. The main advantage is that its so small it can be easily mounted anywhere, especially on booms.

i love it. have taken some great videos and would highly recommend it. the "fish eye" is only if you have it on the higher resolution video on (720 or 960) if you put it lower res, then its' normal shot, but waterproof, shock proof, really cool stuff. and the accessories allow mounting to anything

Does the go pro take still shots? If so, what kind of quality image does it render? I have the Kodak Playsport x3 and while the video is great the stills are seriously sub-par. My cell phone takes better stills. But since the cell is not waterproof I rarely take it out of the otter box.

i love my HERO cam, matter of fact i wore it today while snorkeling on rod recovery duty!

not gonna cut for double duty tho. its a good action cam, not so good for everything else. if you want a screen then you have to buy the LCD backpack and all the different housing doors for it too. plus it wastes battery life.

used mine once...put it up for winter...didn't charge it or run it for 6 months....DOA...battery is dead....40.00 for a new one....advice...charge and use your battery often....you have to have the LCD screen on the back....it's worthless without it...you have no idea what you are filming.....no remote also bites.

i personally love it. i have 2. one with lcd screen. love the screen but it does wear down the batery. amazon sells some batteries for it. think it was 2 rechargeables an a charger for 30$ read a review where there just as good as the ones that come with the go pro. plan on doing the 3d system once i order the case.

I have the Hero 2 also and have done some tests with it mounted on my truck luggage rack. I do like the resolution options but have held off on the LCD hoping for the WIFI remote, but multiple delays, now this summer, may cause me to get the LCD. The going rumor is that the WIFI option will run around $99. I also have two batteries and a charger that I can also hook up in my truck or the house (small inverter I can also use with my netbook PC).

Went and bought a GoPro2. One night on the couch can't be too bad :)

How are you guys mounting them behind your seat? To the crate or a flush mount?

There are "other options" available for lots less $$$ will can and will deliver the same and/or near result and without all the hassle of having to purchase so many accessories and then having to keep up with them.

i've owned 2

have gone 6 months without running it on both cameras and never had the probelm

never had the battery just die

the batteries are $20 not $40

you don't need to charge it and use it "often" maybe once every couple months

you DON't have to have and LCD neither of mine have had them and I've made several awesome videos from skiing, to fishing, to anything

also out of 4 or 5 friends who have them I have never heard a single complaint... not one

maybe you got a bad battery but besides that... get your facts straight

lol @ some people

I love my go Pro Hero 2.

Purchase two extra batteries and a charger for 25 bucks total - well worth the investment, and I can get at least 2.5 hours out of each battery. With appropriate power management, that's an entire day's trip.

Also purchase a 32gb Class 10 card which can hold an entire day's footage for 40 bucks.

I don't have the Gopro but I did take my daughters Kodak PlaySport on a three day Devils River trip. It was great. Battery lasted the whole trip. Good still shots. HD video jumping off the rocks at Dolan Falls was so cool. Bought a Scotty mount for rapids. AND it fits in your shirt pocket. Would recommend it to anyone.

My Go Pro is being delivered on Monday! Ordered a flat lens housing for better underwater footage. I'm mounting mine to a net for fly fishing out west. Also ordered the LCD, so I'll be testing out the battery life w & w/o the LCD.

I'd like to see how everyone is mounting their Go Pros to their kayaks.

I got the Swann camera. It's like a GoPro but cheaper and comes with a LCD and some mounts. Found mine on Woot. Here is a vid I took with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR1QzlINmII" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
