Lone Star Kayak Series August 18th 2012 (3rd Event)

Post by EZ-E »

Hi Everyone,

We are closing in on our 3rd event. The last 2 events have had great turnouts...we have been consistant with 61 anglers at each event. i could not ask more from our anglers.

We are a Galveston based kayak series for redfish. We have trophys for 1st -3rd, cash payout of 75% of the entrys to 25% of the field & thousands of dollars in prizes @ every event. If you are a kayak angler & interested in fishing tournaments you should'nt miss out on this great opportunity to win some cash & prizes. Some of our anglers come from as far away as Dallas, San Antonio & Corpus Christi to fish our events. Please check out our website for all the up to date leader scores & pics.

also ... if you dont think you have a chance at Angler of the Year .... you can still place in the event & have your chance @ prizes & cash ..... & you might even disrupt Angler of the Year standings 8)

for anybody wanting to get into kayak tournament fishing this is the series to do it. EZ-E has put together an awesome tournament series, anybody on tournament day has a chance at winning and or even placing and getting paid. He has a bunch of the veteran tournament guys working the weigh in and they are always willing to help out and answer any questions you might have about fishing tournaments.

I can't wait for the next event, see you guys in August.

x2. Lots of knowledge getting passed around at the weigh-in. People talking tactics, lures, locations, and even fish cleaning tutorials. All of the guys involved with running the series have been around kayaking and kayak tournaments for a long time...makes me feel like rookie from an experience standpoint. I don't know of any other tournament series ever that has had this many experienced yakers running the show. Feel free to ask any of us any questions that you may have.

Looking forward to the next event.

I'm interested, and this would be my first tournament experience. Just want to make sure I understand correctly...No captain's meeting means you can launch from whatever location within the bounds at 6 AM, correct?

you are correct and I hope you decide to fish the tournament, it's an awesome experience and a big boost in your fishing confidence when you can come weigh in fish at your first tournament.

Nooooo.... we wouldn't want any disrupting of points for the AOY standings. Heaven forbid the top 12 would all get goose eggs at the next one. Here's a trick I heard about recently, you should place a banana in your bow hatch. This will ward off any chance of a "PEPE" coming to visit you in the next tourney. Good luck.

Thank you guys for being part of the series .... like i have said in the past ... you guys & the sponsors are the ones that have made this series grow to what it is. with out the anglers we would not have a series

Jak B .... you have to launch from a public launch ... no private or special permission place. now if its public & you have to pay you are o.k. to launch there. mainly no launching from a buddys that would cut down paddle time for you but the other anglers would have a longer paddle.... trying to keep it fair as possible becuase we can not police every launch ...lol

Thanks EZ-E. I did see that in the rules, but forgot to include that caveat in my question. I will definitely be launching from a public place.

A couple of other questions:

Is gulp acceptable as artificial bait?

If so, would it be acceptable to have a gulp shrimp under cork, while fishing a soft plastic jig on another pole? Or is it one pole at a time?

Can we troll while paddling to our spots?

Just looking to maximize my amateur opportunities, within the rules of course. Can't wait. I told my wife that I wanted the entry fee to be a birthday gift. That way, she can't complain when I am gone all day.

Yes sir you can use Gulp .... any way you choose ... except on a stick of dynomite. you may use more than one pole at a time. if you see a school & you make a cast & hook up, you can put that rod down pick up your 2nd rod & make a second cast ... have fun with the double hook up

yes you may troll while your going to your spot

you may even use your phone ... we are semi professional & semi fun for this series 8)

its a 4 man slam tourney ... you dont have to have a true slam ... but you can weigh in 5 fish of the big 3. Just no more than 2 reds & 1 trout over 25" on your stringer.... you can bring in 5 trout ... only one over 25", 5 flounder or any other combination mentioned above. great group of guys over there on that site.

http://www.fishwestend.com/our-store/ev ... tournament" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

LSKS even stepped up & offered 2 entrys to our remaining events for the "Opportunity Drawing" they are having which will benefit Fisher House ... they help military familys with housing when they are hospitilized.
