Which would you pick and why. WS Ride 115 or WS Ride 135
Decided to finally buy my first kayak. I havent decided on the Ride 115 or Ride 135. What do y'all think? I have an f150 so transport is not a problem. More concerned with stability. I will be fishing the bay mostly.

Well the only difference in the boats is the 135 is 2 ft longer and 1.5" narrower so in terms of stability the biggest factor is you. If you are on the smallish size i would suggest the 115 and use the extra money for a rudder or other accessories. If you are on the larger size of the scale the 135 would be better but i would still recommend a rudder

Faster 135, more stable 115...
The only difference between the two models is that the tankwell on the 135 is longer to give you the extra lenght, it is also narrower, but has an extra 50# of weight capacity.
Have the 115 and used the 135. Both are good. Its a matter of personal preference and how and where you are going to use it.

If you fish the bays primarily then get the 135, that extra speed is worth it covering miles in the mini waves and the howling wind of the coast. Everyone I've ever known who started with a short yak for the bay ended up buying a longer one later.....

135 for bays and lakes mostly. 115 for rivers and small lakes mostly.

Wise advice! I'm itching for a PA14 now that I know it will not be a fancy toy that I just wanted, that it will be properly used, that it will not collect dust in a corner of the garage.CamoBassProwler13 wrote:If you fish the bays primarily then get the 135, that extra speed is worth it covering miles in the mini waves and the howling wind of the coast. Still, I will try to keep my 115 when the time comes to upgrade...if I get the ok!

If you can transport and store a longer kayak and are fishing the coast then I would definitely get the Ride 135. You'll be much happier with it in the long run.

Thanks for the input. I guess the 135 is what it is going to be. Cant wait!
Re: Which would you pick and why. WS Ride 115 or WS Ride 135
i have the 2012 135. I came from a ok trident 15.. so i went down in lenght, added width, and decreased speed....
but it is the best kayak i have ever had (3rd one) still fast enough, stable enough to stand up in, and very comfortble for long days. I am 6"4 260, and i have to paddle with the seat moved all the way forward. i would recommend a rudder for ease of use, but in my opinion iof you have settled on the ride, get the 135.
I looked at the cuda's but they were still new at the time, and a lot were beng re-sold on this site, i would test them both out and get a feel for what you like.

Both the 115 and 135 more than likely have enough stability for most people. I'm a big guy and the 135 was more than stable enough. The 115 will be slower but ever so slightly more stable. The Cuda will not be as stable as either and it also lacks capacity. I noticed significantly more water in the Cuda 14 (and 12) than in either Ride when demoing them.
Also as things go...the 115 and 135 are aptly named lengthwise. They are both a shorter then their comparable 12' and 14' competition. The 135's 13' 6" length isn't that far from...say...the Cuda 12 which is 12' 6".

Had W135 Ride sold it , wish I didn't have too but when I get another Yak it will be another 135 Ride .
Such a stable yak and was plenty quick enough for me I go 250lbs 5'9" .
One thing I didn't like was the 135 ride 80 lbs. was heavy and throwing it on top of my FJ was a chore especially after paddling
