Planning a hill country area trip?
we just finished getting nearly a foot of rain over here in the unblessed regions. It ranged from six inches to over a foot depending on where you were. San Antonio has got way too much water in places it ain't supposed to be...Olmos dam is 80 percent filled as we speak...
Parts of SA got less than a half inch less than the record setting flood of Oct.'98!
There will be bargeloads of run-off over the next 48-72 hours and some lakes are going to get real blessings in a hurry--Medina and Canyon to name two. The Guad and some of the other rivers are going to be really high and Wilson county residents have been evacuated in the area of the San Anonio river about 60 miles downstream from SA.
Oh, and we sent the leftover rain to Victoria and Houston, so that ya'll will have something to watch while you wait!

It all depends where the rain fell in the Medina Lake watershed. Ten miles east or west can make a huge difference in the amount of runoff into the lake, and I can't tell you where it fell, because that's a little farther west than we get good coverage.SAHunter1983 wrote:Wish Medina lake got more

I know the river in front of my property didn't go up more than half of a foot and we only got a little more than an inch or so in Bandera. Hey every little bit counts though right.

Hey SAHunter, do you happen to know an L.O. Ruff from Bandera? I worked with him @ Brooks AFB

Re: Planning a hill country area trip?
My family had property in the Bandera area since back in the 60's and I've seen that lake come up overnight on a few occassions but Medina has a small watershed, where it has to rain from Bandera up in between the hills in the area of the town of Medina.
If it rains just a few miles either side as mentioned the lake won't get much at all, but 8 to 10" between those hills at the headwaters of the Medina and katy bar the door, that lake will come up.

Sorry Roo the name doesn't ring a bell. Jimbo your right. Whenever the river floods my pasture the lake will go up substantially.

Watching the weather last night between the quarters in the Spurs game they said that Bandera county got substantially less than the average rainfall for the area--like maybe two inches max--Bummer!

Yup but at least we got some more for the food plots and river. Every bit counts.

Checked the Medina river yesterday. It is flowing but barely. Took the dog out and ran marks and had to go to the deepest area to find a place for her to swim.
