I am 100% in. I am driving down from Dallas Wednesday night (7/3) and sleeping on the beach. I've never been out to any rig. Been BTB but not that far out. Complete noob when it comes to kingfish and cobia but I will hold my own and promise not to be a burden. I made up a bunch of leaders, hoping they'll hold up haha.

Where are you planning on launching? I've never been down that way, always been near Galveston... can you point me to a landmark I can Google Map?

Also, know a good place to get bait around there? I've got some sabiki rigs but don't want to rely on them...

So are you guys in for MP tomorrow? What time you guys want to launch? I'll be waking up on the beach so I'll be there. 8)

Also, if anyone else wants to camp out near Mile Marker 80 tonight and/or tomorrow night and wants some company, I'll be there.

I might join you gents. I will be in Rockport for the whole weekend and getting out to a rig or two is one of my priorities. I will be available to fish Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have to do some research as to what leaders/tackle and bait that I will need. Surely I can get that stuff somewhere in Rockport. any advice on leaders, lures and misc tackle I will need?

I plan to be on the beach by 7 and launch at marker 80. The most affordable quality bait is on the island side under the causeway to Corpus. Clem's sells ribbons for $6 per dozen.

Prof,
7 which day?
As for the ribbons, what is the norm as far as quantity to bring? Will a dozen do, or should I grab a few more? Is there anywhere to buy a ribbon rig or would someone have some I can buy from them? I don't think I will have time to make any before hand.

obviously, this will be my first time hitting a rig and first time fishing for kings. Ive been out btb for BR and sharks and have gear and tackle for that, but nothing for the other BTB bounty.

On the 4th. I work Friday and will be anxiously awaiting the reports.

One dozen ribbons should be enough.

If you can find a few rigs at Roy's it would help... I'm going through my supply quickly of late and need to make more.

Sabiki rigs for live bait were the ticket last week. Good place for dead bait is clems under the causeway or Port A outfitters in port A.

Very early. They supply a lot of the guides who make the early run to Baffin.

You're probably on the road, Yak'nAggie, but it won't take you 8 hours and Clem's will be open when you get there. So will Red Dot. They are both open all night, I believe...lots of folks like to fish from their piers in the cool of night under the lights during the summer.

Clem's has been operated by the Gohlke family for many years. Friendly folks, always open, my kids really enjoy catching fish from their docks at night.

THE FISHING GODS SMILE UPON ME

I found some. Red Dot Pier has some for now. I bought 4 dozen so if y'all can't find some I can spare them. Hoping to keep some extra for Friday though. But I got you guys if theyre sold out in the AM. They open at 6:00. I told her to stash a few dozen for my buddies thatre coming in the morning but who knows if she will. If y'all can't find me in the AM for some reason 214-449-5399

I actually could use some ice... If soneone could bring me a bag that would be really awesome.

Talked to the guys from 30milesout today at Bob Hall Pier. They went out to the stand pipe and were catching bait and smacks on Sabiki rigs bounced off the bottom. Went to the Packery jetties as well - tons of bait in the surf - just a heads up.

Hey guys, my bro in law is planning on hitting the MP rigs Friday morning. He's not a forum member, so I told him I'd contact you guys. sounds like a meetup at mile marker 80 at about 7:00, is that right? His name is Kurt and I'm not sure if he's in his fj cruiser or his black tundra. not sure on the yak either... probably a yellow mini x, but might be a tan Nucanoe...

He's staying at a place on Mustang Island. Having never been myself, I'm not sure how to direct him to the spot. He did say that he found the Mayan Princess resort and saw the rigs out there, so if I tell him just to head to mm 80 on the beach, would that be adequate??

Thanks!!
