Open invite Sunday the 27th

Post by GCARR »

Thinking of going to Champion Creek in Colorado City on Sunday the 27th. I am also open to fishing other lakes in the area.

I have a legitimate excuse NoFsh Jr turns 10 today so Mrs. NoFsh has the annual birthday festivities planned, which means more work for me.

Champion is low but so is everywhere else, I went a few times last year and seemed to do good. If the bass wont bite the whites/hybrid do pretty good near the dam. This picture is of my buddy Alpo last Feb.

I can get a key but have never had to use it. It has always been open. I plan on being there when the sun comes up and leaving about 2.

Was nice the first hour, showed up as the sun was coming up no wind, then about 30 minutes before Badcuda showed up the wind picked up and it kept coming. I think the water was too cold for the fish and the wind didn't help needless to say I got skunked. I did expect it though but it was a good recon the lake has dropped four feet since last February. Thinking next month I would like to hit up San Angelo unless Pigshack wants to kick off the 2013 AKBA hint hint

Always good to at least get out on the water for a bit. My prior engagements involved camping at the state park with the family. Saturday was great, but about 4 in the morning that wind really kicked it. Our little popup was rockin and rollin and makin some noise. Breakfast on the grill was a booger, took forever. I thought about y'all about ten when it was howling a nice 20-25 mph, and told my wife, "glad I wasn't in a yak right now" lol. We got home at 1 and dropped the kids off at church for some practice they had at 2, then me and my bride took the bass boat out to Nasworthy. Wind laid down after a while and was like glass by 5. Fishing was pretty poor for us as well. But we didn't try very hard, just enjoyed the afternoon together hauling butt all over the lake listening to Pink Floyd and sippin on a Keystone or two. Then to church at 6 to ask forgiveness for the keystone and grab the kids. Home by 7:30. Whew, Good weekend.
