One thing I learned from Cliff is that a fish makes a decision in micro-second on whether it wants to consume a fly or not.

The fish is not going to study the fly to see if it is eye appealing, then make a decision on who tied it and then to attempt to eat it. If it is the right shape, size and can be seen or heard, then the fish will react.

Folks have be come consumed with flies and eye appeal with the advent of the digital camera.

Cliff catches more catfish on a fly than most folks. After fishing with him and paying attention, I fish an "orange" scud and can catch catfish.

Well, there you go.
By the way the biggest bass I ever caught was when I ran out of live bate and picked a cotton ball up off the ground and put it on my hook. Honest.
But I won't be posting a photo of that spontaneous lure. :-)
