Disco Shrimp

Post by salt_fly »

Here is a Disco Shrimp from Drew Chicone's book Feather Brain. This pattern uses foam to float and a rattle and sequins for noise and pushing water. Might use some tan and pink dubbing mix for the next one.

I've been tying a few versions myself along with other chugger types of shrimp. Mainly just at working on different color combos right now. Whenever the surf was flat last year (which wasn't enough), these flies straight up slayed the trout. Also great for coaxing reds out of grass or muddy water or throwing at schools in the fall.

You gotta use the sequins on the tail. It's not disco without the sequins!!

Yes, I see that I missed that. No problem, I've got the sequins and will do some that way. Either way, I'm excited about giving this pattern or my perversion of it a try. To me they look fishier than the gartside gurgler and the VIP popper. Of course, I've had trout hit popping and rattling corks so its not about how they look sometimes.
