South Padre plastics
South Padre plastics
I know you guys have discussed quite a bit concerning color, especially folks in the Houston area.
I have the opportunity to fish Lagune Madre in South Padre and was wondering what colors you like down there? I usually fish with bait for redfish but I really want to try and catch some trout on soft plastic lures, changing my evil ways.
Any help would be appreciated from the South.
Thanks

Re: South Padre plastics
What you use really depends on water clarity. I like the Cocohoe Laguna Glass, Opening Night, Croaker and Bone for that area myself and those colors should work well with most water types. Super clear water, try white/chart tail. Motor oil/chart tail is also good.
Good Luck and Good fishing![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Put Bone Diamond on your list.
Re: South Padre plastics
Ok thank you very much.
I'm not sure how much rain they received down there and if it had any affect on clarity. I was told Aransas bay looks very different right now. We will see.
I took notes off another post concerning color. The posters wrote down their 3 favorite colors go to colors. I have received so much help off this site. Many thanks from a bait man going artificial. I also asked some of my cousin's friends and it's amazing how many colors come in chicken...
I'm thinking I need some sort of color chart like buying paint.
Thanks to all who provided pictures before as I had no idea what color to put with some of the words. Bone is fairly obvious, but the slammin chicken, not so much.

Texas Tackle Factory has one of those charts on their website for what colors in what type of water.
I use the TTF Flats minnow in addition to the Cocohoe minnow also

Re: South Padre plastics
South padre u mean north padre?
If u come to the LLM in south padre ...we have gotten a lot of rain but it's all good
Water is off color with island side clear
So if u r headed to south padre the colores mentioned above r great!
My recommendations :
Add a red/white cochaoe along with a plumtruce ...
Don't forget gulp on a popping cork if all else fails!
We will be out there this Saturday hitting southbay!
Holla if u see the beer nation flag! Woooooo!
Let's go Fishin.....coco!

I just mentioned how off color some friends said Aransas Bay was.
Just wondering if Lagune Madre way down south got much rain as to stain the water.
Thanks
