Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
How about 100 feet of 500mcm electrical cable sheathing that had been stripped off the cable? That was one big mess. I was about half way to the channel from Sylvan beach near Houston.

Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
I was once fly fishing for carp in the New Orleans drainage ditches. I hooked into something solid and after a couple minutes I was the proud owner of a few square feet of carpeting.

Fishing the bridge over Copano Bay in Rockport/Fulton and snagged up an old rusty foldable camp chair. Was exciting up till it came out the water, haha.
Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
hooked a gallon zip lock bag with eye glasses, a wallet, zig zag's, a pack of smokes and a tylenol bottle that had some not so legal green herbal pain reliever in it. every thing was mailed back to the owner less the tylenol bottle which went to the trash man.

My wife was bottom fishing at Dam B and got hung up. I got ahold of her pole and started working it trying to get it back in and it popped loose. I thought I had just broken a limb off of the drowned tree she hung, until a clam about the size of my fist came up. I pried it open and got her hook back and threw the clam back in the water.

Pulled in a BMX bike from the BRAZOS by Baylor with my Cronarch 50E a couple of years ago, had been in the water for a while. Police weren't interested in coming and get it so I gave it to a kid that didn't have a bike.

Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
Fishing rollover pass, I hung one of those metal newspaper stands that used to be popular in front of stores back in the day. I had a house down in Gilchrist on a canal. Caught a big hardhead and just left him on my line for a bit since I was doing something else. Came back to take him off, and thought I was hung up on a crab trap. Turned out it was about a 6' gator who had made a meal out of the hardhead. He actually let me pull him to the surface. When his eyes popped up, we both went our separate directions. lol.

We can *usually* catch something there. I can always pull a few bream out. If we are at Martin Dies, we play with juvy cats and drum, with an occasional black bass or white bass thrown in. All of this is sitting on the bank drowning worms. I've only had my kayak there a few times, and it always seeme like we catch the wrong side of a front.
Once summer really kicks in, the lake heats up to well over 80 degrees and the fishing suffers from it.

Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
Not so much weird as lucky...
A few years ago I was going out to do some crappie fishing in among some timber. Didn't have my rods leashed and as I paddled near some timber in around 20 fow, I hear a *splash*. I immediately know what happened. I curse myself, look behind me and clip to the nearest branch I can find, trying to mentally keep a snapshot of the approximate area I think the rod went over. I tied on a couple treble hooks and a large weight to my remaining rod and spent around twenty minutes snagging all around the area. Pulled up a few sticks but was relieved when one of the "branches" had eyelets.

Trolled up a bra once.
Re: wierdest item ever snagged thread
A seagull.
I was casting and the thing flew right under my line as it was falling and got tangled.
He was VERY unhappy to be reeled in and untangled before I set him free.
