Sea Rim - Friday's Report

Post by Mythman »

Seven fishermen showed up at Sea Rim today to BTB fish. We were all greeted with the usual 6" surf and less than 1 foot offshore swell. Most of us were launched and on the water fishing by 8 am.

My first fish was a small shark:

Next came a bull red:

Then a 5 ft bull shark(where did all these sharks come from?):

That first hour, others were catching fish too........here is MNfisher:

I thought it was going to be a stellar day based on all the fish caught the 1st hour........but then it all stopped at 9 am.

After everyone sat for a hour or more then the fish started biting again.............here is Spoon with one of his:

While it wasn't an outstanding day it was decent and steady until we left. There were a couple of newbies in a tandem and they had a blast. At one time they had a triple hookup going.

Most of us had run out of bait by 12:30-1 pm and we hit the sand. The tandem was still fishing when we left for home. I don't know what the tandem guys caught but the other 5 of us caught 52 bull reds, 1 big ugly and about 7 sharks......all in 4 1/2 hours.

It was a fun day...............for me!!!

6 reds and 2 sharks for me today. I was there when the tandem guys beached. They caught about 20 bull reds between them. Not bad for a first time! Fun day on the water!

Here's a shot of the tandem guys with a triple hook up.

9 reds and 1 shark for me. 6-7 bait spitters and gobs of sneaky bait stealers.

As Mike said, it was a great day of fishing! I thought 10 lbs of mullet would be enough for me but we were all out of bait right around noon..

I landed on a hot spot and it was pretty much fish on every 15 min the whole day so there were no complaints from me when i ran out of bait as I was tired....

The only down side of the whole day was not being able to convince MnFisher to take home a gafftop!

SNOT SHARKS are fine cut bait for Bull Reds. Sure foul your deck and everything they touch.

I ended up with 8 BR's but ran out of bait early so I called it a day.

Great job guys!! Glad to see you are fishing again, Rob. It's been awhile since I have seen you post on here. The Raptor looks as sweet as ever.

I plan on going out to SR this Monday. I'm taking my younger son out. Since he hooked up with his first jack this past summer, he's been wanting to get out again. I figured since he is out of school on Monday, due to the holiday, I would take him out fishing. Bull reds should be a lot of fun for him to catch. :)

Hey Blake, ya finally had to take a day off to get some fishing in. My son (22) wants to head down and try for some BR before the leave. Hope I can get him down there in the next couple of weeks if his classes cooperate. If we work something up I'll post it or we will grab onto someone elses post and show up.

Went out on Saturday and between two of us we caught 8 bulls and a shark. Fished from 11:30 to about 3.
