Awesome day on Freeport 10/17/16
So I have worked every day since my last report and video. Finally got a day to myself and decided to make the long drive to Freeport.
My first observation was that it was much hotter than it was last weekend. I think it was 80 at day break when I got to the launch. The tide was falling at a pretty quick pace.
I paddled a little ways down the intercostal and saw some slicks with birds working over the top. It was trout...fished it for about twenty minutes and left them biting. Everything I caught was undersized and I lost a sure keeper at the boat.
Kept moving until I got to a large backwater lake. Could see bait jumping like crazy with no birds about 100 yards away. About halfway there a few gulls started hovering and I was finally able to see the backs of at least 30 Redfish. Got to work and caught a limit in less than five minutes and an extra on the way out.
Seeing a school of redfish like that in 1 foot of water never gets old! I made a video of the trip, the link is below.

Don't see that every day! Great work juggling those rods. That hookset into a solid redfish is such a great feeling!
