Veterans Day- Galveston Area

Post by Erock »

Thanks to all the Veterans, hope y'all enjoyed the nice weather this weekend! A buddy and I hit a spot in West Bay Friday morning to start out. Fished partly cloudy nice cool weather, a light N wind in 3'-10' in pretty decent colored high water around shell throwing DSL's until about 1:00. Lots of sandies, a couple undersize flounder and a few rat reds and dink trout. I strung a keeper and a lower slot red. The highlight of the morning was my buddy's PB 27 1/2" trout that he CPR'd. Loaded up, ate something and moved across the pass to a Freeport marsh to fish until dark. Water was way up in the grass along with the reds and mosquitos. I lost a toad redfish after several drag screamers on a gulp under a Midcoast cork and caught a few rats. Moved up into the grass late with a weedless spoon and strung one red and let two others eat me up in the thick cover. My buddy caught a little of everything and strung a keeper trout. Had a great day in super nice weather, got dinner and took a few pics. Gonna try and add pics.

Ya Grant, that made his day for sure....and put a cloud on mine Lol! We have fished together since 7th grade and we are both over 50! His PB was a 25", I've had him in the trout category with three fish 26" but can't get over the hump, now I'm down! He has me well beaten on Largemouth Bass with a couple over 10# so I may need to fish with you a couple times this winter since you catch 28" trout every time you decide to fish Lol!

Haha I wish it were that easy for me. I had a kid within the past year so my fishing took a major hit. We can make a trip happen sometime though.
