#whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad
Ok we have a date for a river trip to honor our Friend, Robert Matthews .. as of now its the weekend of the 17th Nov. Robert would post up pic of his feet in different locations on his facebook page and ask " Where are your feet ".. Jason came up with the name and i think its fitting for this trip.. this is not just a river dawg trip its an open invite .. Hoping we can self-shuttle among the group.
Launch - FM 973, Austin Tx
Take out - Little Webberville Park, Webberville Tx, off FM 969. we will figure out time to meet later i just want you to give yall a heads up on this trip ..

I'll ask my wife, but I'd be interested in making this trip. Is it a 2 day/1night trip? Is there another thread with information?larry long shadows wrote:Ok we have a date for a river trip to honor our Friend, Robert Matthews .. as of now its the weekend of the 17th Nov. Its an overnighter... neumie
Re: #whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad
Larry, here you say will do the hog island trip. I have been told your Facebook post says FM 969 to Bastrop camping on the big island.
I remember at the FM 973 to Webberville run several of us had trouble with theft and vandalism to vehicles. Has that problem been solved? I will be on the road a lot in October and November but put me down as a tentative if I am in town.

Hirsch, Hog Island trip. Closer to the date, I’ll post up a map.
LETS TALK ABOUT FOOD!!!
I’ll bring the obligatory cold Whataburger....
Need Red Solo Cups and some Star Crunches.
Most likely I’ll be cooking beef fajitas on the jet boil.
Maybe Chuck can bring some of his awesome beef jerky/sticks.

OK, the hog island run. One of my favorite.
Re: #whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad
You know, Robert actually helped coin the name " Hog Island". Him and his wife did a Mother's Day camp trip back in 2010 and had an encounter with the hogs. It's chronicled here in this old report. It's a classic for sure.

Before that we used to just call it the "the big island" or the "camp island". I still hear a lot of the old regulars call it Hog Island.
What ever you call it , my feet will be on this trip.
I'll help with logistics as we get closer, and look forward to seeing everybody.

I will be in Colorado Thanksgiving week to including the weekend before.
Re: #whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad
The river is slowly coming down as the LCRA is shutting off flood gates.
After a couple weeks at 30000 cfs it'll be interesting to see what it looks like now. I think by the 17th it will be fishable and campable, just not sure what sure what it'll look like and I probably won't get a chance to scout it out until that weekend.
Might be a good idea to postpone the Memorial trip with so many coming from out of town.
With that said I am going to still do the run and camp that weekend. If anybody or everybody wants to go please join me. Let me know here.
I don't see facebook so y'all have probably been discussing this, keep me in the loop.

looks like they are moving the date up till after first of the year... but I'm down for a trip this past summer was so damn hot I didn't do anything .. I need to get out so I'll be there .. let me know when and were ..
Re: #whereareyourfeet overnighter for On The Guad
Good deal Larry, hopefully a few others will join us. I'll be watching conditions and we'll plan accordingly.
I have that whole week off so if we need to move the date around a little we can, but for now let's plan for the 17th.
I'll be in touch.
