Another great morning

Post by Prof. Salt »

Yesterday gave us a little window, so we got offshore and picked fights with everything that was willing.

I tried posting the link several ways but I guess the link challenges are ongoing. As they say in baseball if you click on it, it will come.

Another good one! Great way of enjoying my Saturday morning of not fishing, watch fishing. How to you go about getting your kayak to launch. Truck? Just wondering due to the length.

I have a trailer with wood platforms built along either side. It serves as a good base for most kayaks including the long ones.

Nice! Those Stealth Kayaks sure look pretty. I wonder how car topping one of those would be like? Probably not too bad if secured properly...

Thanks for posting, Prof. Makes me want to get down there for a BTB soon.

Not sure how long those Stealths are, but I have car topped a T160 on my Sequoia and my buddy used to top his T160 on a Nissan Maxima.

If you have some decent padding the boat should ride okay. You can’t see it in the photo but I’m using a big foam block under the front of each of these boats to allow for the rocker curve. I’ve seen photos of people in other countries transporting them on roof racks, and Tod used to get his to the water that way. As far as kayak lengths the 525 is around 17 feet and the 555 is 18 feet long.

That is good to know. The weight doesn't seem too bad either. Thanks for the information :!:

Professor salt,
what wind direction do you look for to anticipate calm surf in corpus area?

As long as the wind isn't out of the North (makes for a tough kingfish bite), I just watch Windfinder to see what the surf is doing. If the surf is good, the rest will usually be good too. This link will give you a Corpus area live look at the surf to confirm:
