Day 8 and 9

Post by saltykat »

Conditions were perfect both days with a week of crappy weather in between. Water temps were low to mid 50s both days with trout green wster 2 ft visibility or so. Throwing the same slow sinking mirrolure I’ve been using all winter in 2 to 4 ft of water with mud and shell bottom. Caught 8 trout to 23” on day 8 and 5 trout to 23” on day 9 caught a red or two on each day. Not much bait in the water but that’s often the case this time of year

Thirteen legal trout and two redfish in 2 kayak trips? The Admiral is back, folks.

Great photos and love to see that pretty green baywater... You seem to do better in your kayak over your powerboats. Thanks so much.

DD fishing is well off of last years numbers, the weather is partly to blame because I've only made it out half as many times compared to this time last year. I definetly catch more out of the yak than the boat the only advantage the boat has is getting you from one spot to another :cat:

The Kat taking care of business in pristine conditions. WTG, Kat! Still busting my hump at work on the big case, but I should be ready to fish by May.

Any particular model/size Mirrolure? I suppose you need to start winding it immediately or it may sink to the bottom and get snagged.

I use the mullet skin series xl whenever the water is clear which it usually is in winter :cat:
