When you move slow and you spend lots of time on the water you can see some cool stuff.
Today I saw one of my favorites. A little bunch of tailing hardheads. What, who likes hardheads?
There is always a red fish or two hanging around those little muckers. I saw their tales from 50 yds away. I have played this game before so I hurried my slow walk a bit to get closer to them. When I was about 20 yds away I saw what I wanted to see. A red fish porpoised right thru the middle of the little pod. I figured I would get him.
I laid the olive colored crab fly right in the middle of the pod and stripped it once. Whack! It was just what he was looking for.
Tailing red fish are cool but so are tailing hardheads.
It's time to go back to Oklahoma. I fished 12 out of 13 days and I am worn out.
We left plenty of fish out there for the rest of you,
John

fishing a storm tide in the '90s, we saw tailing sharks on Cedar Bayou flat.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever see tailing hardheads!
