FIRST TIME POST ALERT! I hope I get this right. I just wanted to share our experience at the Aransas Pathways launch and results. It was my Son and I.
We started the morning early at about 7ish on the water.
We started off good with a few hits on top water (Super Spook jr.) to the north of the launch by the grass lands, but they were undersized. We did pick up one 18" spec
Then, we went south of the bridge, just casting at what we see. We saw some blow ups by the rocks on the bridge, so we walked the dog. Well that puppy got ate by a nice 18" trout. We could have certainly caught many more trout, but we were hunting for belly crawlers and drag pullers.
So then we went south of the bridge on the south side of the area into the "pathways". What a dream pond of a morning it was. We only pulled out one keeper red, but there were many more. We caught him on Crab flavored fish bites and popping cork. We've really struggled this year with lures for reds. I really can't figure it out. Any advice (other than 'git gud') would be welcomed. I'll share our experience yesterday at Port bay after this.
Bear in mind the lines I have drawn are estimates. I did not use a GPS unit or app to track my path. You can tell from the pictures it's fairly accurate. Well nevermind, I am limited to 4 pictures. I'll post a route another day

Glad to hear y'all had a great time. We are definitely blessed in Aransas and San Patricio Counties and the entire Coastal Bend with not only fantastic fishing, but a welcoming community. Most of the Texas Coast isn't so kayak friendly. Living here, I could fish a different spot every outing, and not get close to repeating in a year. Not to mention affordable accommodations and restaurants. And not having my truck towed or burglarized! Come back, and bring your friends & family. TexasJim in Rockport

Thanks Jim! I live in sinton, so we'll be sort of a constant feature.

Looks like a fun day. Maybe the redfish get a lot of pressure thereabouts and become somewhat jaded and extra wary. Wary redfish have spider senses and are really a tough sell. Clear water makes it even tougher. Easier to catch a red in muddy water than clear water.

Excellent report. I haven't fished over there in a long, long time.
