I only hear crickets!

Except for Prof Salt's reports, not much happening on TKF. My kayak was getting flabby from lack of exercise, so I took it to the Aransas Pass Aquatic Center launch Friday morning. Beautiful day. The flats(long ago called Airport Flats, when the airport was where ICW RV Park is now), have been very good for me. My PB Red, 32", was caught there on a white Gulp shrimp. I started flycasting, but I still suck at it, so I started chunking soft plastics on a spinning rod, and frozen HEB shrimp on the bottom on a bait caster. One of my Winter Texan friends kills Reds there, every season. I finally hooked up a short Red on a shrimp, but it spit the hook, while I was fumbling to get my net. The Solunar Liars said the bite would be 11:00 to 1. At 12:55, I finally hooked up and boated a 22" Red, on a Z-Man Minnow-Z in Beer Run color(my friend's best lure). I fished another hour and finally boated another Red, 19". That was it. I CSR'd(caught, stringered, released) the 22" Red and paddled back to the launch. Great day, but not a great catching day. The kayak toned up well. TexasJim

Good on you for getting out and filing a report.

I got big plans to fish a lot this cool season. We had a blast wading around your home area the weekend before this one. Caught a lot of fish. Three old friends can have some fun if given some time away from distractions.

Was going to fish this past Friday, but got caught up refinishing a pool deck.

Planning on a kayak trip this week. Maybe Thursday. Not sure where. Christmas Bay, Drum Bay, maybe a marsh.

You are right, it has been slow. I had a couple good trips these last few weeks and I will make an effort to post some info. Hopefully we can more people to participate.
