Sunday, was a different story. When we left Sat night we noticed that the wind was dead & we noticed bait moving into our area so we made it a point to be there before sun up on Sun. morning. When we arrived at 6:00 Sun morning the water was in good shape & there was not even a breeze, the ocean looked like glass. When we first let out we immediately got a few bites but no takers. My brother was the first to catch a trout & it was a little small. He then proceeded to catch a really nice trout on topwater (zara puppy, red head, white body). That trout broke his line as he was trying to net it.
I noticed in the distance bait hitting the top of the water and it was moving our way quickly. I paddled out & kept throwing soft plastics with no luck. I then noticed that all of this bait was finger mullet & larger mullet & they were covering the top of the water, it was crazy how thick the bait was. I changed my bait to a rockport rattler (lead w/red eyes) & put on a Berkely power bait glass minnow (holographic) & this did the trick. I immediately started catching trout under the mullet one after another. Yelled out to my brother & gave him some of the glass minnow baits I had & he was on the fish as well. By 10:00 a.m. I had 7 trout on my stringer & then the big one!!!! 
I casted out not really paying much attention and suddenly I got a hit, not a big hard hit but a normal one. I quickly started fumbling for my net when I heard the fish break the water. My brother yelled out that it was a huge trout & suddenly I was worried about losing this fish. It started singing the drag the first time I brought it close to the yak but I still had not seen it yet. I knew it was a trout but how big??? Finally it breaks the water next to my yak & my heart was pounding, this was my biggest trout.... I tried to net it but it just laid across my net!!! My second netting attempt I got most of his hind body in the net & used the line to keep his head up & brought him in. I was so shocked to see this trout sitting in my lap I just sat there for a few seconds. When I reached down to grab him he quickly started thrashing & back into the water he made it, my heart nearly dropped out of my chest because I knew I was going to lose this trout. I scrambled again for the net covered in slime & got him back in the yak but this time I leaned over & bear hugged that baby, it wasn’t leaving unless it was on the stringer. I got it on the stringer & my heart began to beat again. 
I was two fish shy of my limit & my brother did almost as well. He managed to net a 21” trout & we both had 15”-20” on our stringers. All in all we brought back 12 specs & 1 flounder to end the day. By the way my big trout was 25” & I would guestimate around 5-6 lbs. WHAT A DAY!!!
Always carry a scale now.

However, I am thankful my son was born in April, ...that made it a lot easier.
