Vlaude, can't catch up with you for a trip up there during the week but something that came up this past weekend was talk of a float trip on the Red. A few of us are really interested in something like this.

Have you ever checked out the parking on 75? Figure put in at the damn and float as far down as????? Interested in doing a little scouting work?

Yeah I got some ideas... I stoked to do this, I think there are going to be some BRUTES around some spots. Going up here in a bit, there are legit 10-15lb stripers busting topwater, so I'm hoping if they are in that in these other spots there will be some 20+lb fish. I have heard of a few people catching some that size as of recent. Thought I had on a 20-30lb one last weekend, till I saw the long nose on it! LOL

Yeah, what type of time frame are you thinking? And we need to see how many people are interested. If we get 2 to 4 I think that would be good. I guess 3 might work if we can work out the transportation out of the river and back... Let me know your thoughts...

Transportation at the take out could be an issue but I think we can resolve that. My truck can handle 2 long racks on top and 2 short one in the bed.

I did a little work with google earth last night and there are 2 bridge crossings down stream. One is 75 (2 miles downstream) and the other is 120 (12 miles downstream). I think that 12 miles would be more paddling than fishing unless we did a overnighter and that would require a scouting trip to find a camping spot to set up on. I don't know about parking at either one of these locations so this will have to be checked out also.

As far as a time frame I'd have to say before the guides fish the place out, but still we need to see about parking at the take out.

OK, your turn, thoughts?

Roger, sure I think we could work it out. I think the time we have might dictate how far we can go and maybe the put in point/take-out. There are a few spots I'd like to get in though so decide the put-in area dependent on the time we have. I guess we need to see if we have any other takers...

Yesterday evening did not produce as many fish I think I ended up with 9 fish, but I fished big baits and the average fish was pretty good size. Most of the fish coming on a topwater plug! :D My kinda fishing!!!

I was waiting to see if we got anymore takers. Maybe we need to start a new thread on this?

I may have Sunday free - let me see what the boss says. Anybody interested in going out to Texoma in the afternoon?

I'm still mad at the stripers and perhaps ready to take on the Red River....

The weekend is closing fast on me. Lotsa work, little time. I think that if I get that much time I'll check the take out on 75 and/or 120. I really want to do the river trip.

I will be there this weekend Saturday and then again Sunday afternoon if interested... I think the river might be a bit better in another month for a long trip anyways. Just my thoughts, hope I'm wrong! LOL

I'd really like to join this trip, but cannot make it up there this weekend. Hopefully, there will be some interest for another trip in a few weeks or later this fall.
