Anyone have a good Buttermilk pie recipe?

Post by Reefmonkey »

I've been searching for one of these for a while. I love getting buttermilk pie when I am out at a little country restaurant, and would love to make it myself.

My goodness... I haven't even thought about buttermilk pie for years. I forgot how much I loved it when my grandmother made it. Just absolutely fantastic! Thanks for the recipe!

my mom-in-laws recipe, simple and good
Beat..... 3 whole eggs in a medium bowl
Add...... 1 1/3 cup granulated sugar,
1 Tablespoon flour,
1 teaspoon vanilla extract,
1/2 stick of margarine or unsalted butter (melted),
1/2 cup buttermilk,
Mix everything very well and pour into a unbaked 9" pie shell
Bake at 350' for 35-40 minutes. Top should be lightly browned and domed or puffed up which will go down once its cooled. It will still be jingly like custard or pudding but will solidfy when it cools so let it cool for a good 30 munites before cutting into it
Enjoy.
