REDFISH SERIES TEAM KINGZ AND FRIENDZ
Well all of us except Redfish529 made it to this event. First time for Kingz and I for the live weigh-in drama but had a great time as we always do fishing toegether (well if you call 6 people scattered over four totally different areas "together"). Only one group registered officially as a "Team", but we're still Team Kingz!
Started out with the Captains meeting yesterday, followed by way too much gringo-mex food in Port A. Good stuff just not the real deal we all crave! Good company, trash talk and strategy followed by early return to the house. Up early for launch (I do like the call-in style launch versus the "Shotgun Start") where we all could launch "wherever" at 0700 safe light verified w/ voicemail/text etc...
George and I ultimately found eager and willing fish that would have made for a great day IF we were not looking for tournament grade fish-- C&R 4 limits of fish making for plenty of fun.
Top 10 fish today were high 6's and lots of 7's and two 8's, one of which was Paul M's 2nd place fish! Our fish were peas from a pod w/ no upgrades 22" fish---but they loved the topwaters!
A few heart breakers for all of us today...coulda woulda shoulda, Nueces Bay first fish of the AM ---oversize and looking for a little downgrade---he ended up in 11th which is still a respectable showing-just no $ , CCRed (Steve) stalked a big fish w/ 20 "perfect casts" w/ no bite and lost another upper slot. That would have put he and Paul in 3rd or better IF he had caught it as they were just a couple ounces shy for 3rd. I had a number of awe-S%$ts as nicer fish came unglued after rippin' runs. All fish stories if they were not weighed in....
Congrats to all the winners!
0700 Safe Light Launch
Kingz cast number 4 lands first blood a feisty 20"--upgraded later in day.
The Ugly Spook Jr...guess it ticked them off as it was good for 8 fish
George pushin' through the skinny stuff
