San Gabe 5-3
San Gabe 5-3
Okay, so we got a little rain again, and the San Gabe should be flowing a little better. I'm going to try for some whites and crappie this Sunday, 5-3.
Anyone and everyone is welcome!

Re: San Gabe 5-3
How did you end up doing? Couldn't go on Sunday, but got a few hours on Sat evening, so tried something new at Lake Georgetown. Caught one small white trolling while paddling in.
Re: San Gabe 5-3
Ended up not going. Too many 'need to dos' came up over the weekend, and I spent Sunday mowing, cleaning, and doing all the chores I was supposed to on Saturday.
Re: San Gabe 5-3
Bummer, reality takes away from fishing way too much. Let me know when you might be heading back out that way.
Re: San Gabe 5-3
It'll probably be a while, but will do. I tend to post up here looking for people to fish with. Always open to new spots, too!

Re: San Gabe 5-3
M Kid,
Wish l would have called you Sat am, so that you could talk me out of going. Went against my best judgement, went to bed Fri feeling poorly, woke up feeling worse, went anyway. Ran some noodles off the swimming area, tried for some crappie in the cove next to the Taylor boat ramp-caught one. Nothing on the noodles then some rain came, thought l would hop in the truck and ride it out, luckily changed my mind, pulled my gear and loaded up. Just as l closed the truck door to head out, the bottom fell out and it got real wet/real fast. Went home and slept the rest of the day.
l mainly fish the weekends, but open to an evening, so give me a holler and lets go sometime.

Anyone up for Thursday afternoon?
Re: San Gabe 5-3
l would love to say yes, but we are heading out Fri for the holiday weekend and if l am not part of the solution in regards to getting ready, then l will definitely be part of the problem. Glad l got out Sat-busy week ahead.

Re: San Gabe 5-3
I'm up for anything. I usually just fish the San Gabriel for whites and crappie, but I'd be happy to go to Taylor park. Let me know.
Re: San Gabe 5-3
Is Taylor Park the little lake just east of 95N, north of town? If so, didn't think you could launch a boat there. Looks fishy.

They are probably referring to a Corp or Engineer's park on Lake Granger called Taylor Park. Check the Austin Area Fishing Maps at the top of the forum.Longhorns wrote:Is Taylor Park the little lake just east of 95N, north of town? If so, didn't think you could launch a boat there. Looks fishy.

Re: San Gabe 5-3
na , hookem got it . taylor park is on lake granger , southside of the lake . as for where we go makes no difference to me . we can hit the river at the primitive launch , that's good with me and closer .Longhorns wrote:Is Taylor Park the little lake just east of 95N, north of town? Re: San Gabe 5-3
Last time it rained and the river started flowing (a little) I caught about 15 whites upriver from the primitive launch. I wonder if this last bit of rain made a difference?

Re: San Gabe 5-3
are ya still looking at thursday evening on the river ? i am stuck in a heavy equipment class tues. through thursday . i have to drive a tractor trailer with a tractor on it back to taylor in 5:00 traffic . but if ya are going , i will head that way as soon as i hit town .
Re: San Gabe 5-3
Boy, good luck with that, kid.
I close my clinic at noon on Thursday, so will probably get out there around 1-1:30. I'm thinking about just going to put in at the primitive launch and head towards the mouth of the river.
If you can still go, my # is 409 718 5285. Give me a call and I can tell you how the fishing is, or pull out of the river and meet you at Taylor Park.

Re: San Gabe 5-3
Not at all. I've only been on that river once in the last year when it was actually flowing, and that was still only evident in very shallow water.Light Keeper's Kid wrote:Whats it like paddling back from the mouth of the river,is there a strong current?
