MAP of places to kayak fish in Texas

Post by daveg99 »

This map was created to help kayak fisherman find good spots to fish.

If you have a spot that you'd like to add to the map, anywhere in Texas or anywhere else, find the location in Google Maps, then click on the "Link" button at the top right of the map. In the popup that appears, click where it says "Paste link in email or IM" and copy the link. Paste it into a PM to me and I'll get them on the map.

Map of Places to kayak fish in Texas

If you want a spot posted, I need the location information per the instructions above. If I have to go searching for the location, or if the information is too general (i.e. Brazos River) it's not going to get posted.

Some people are very protective of their rivers, access points and favorite fishing spots, but I think this is a great idea. I always get a kick out of the folks who think they are they only ones who know of a great hole, when actually half the state fishes there.

We could fill that map with access points and good information!!

That's a good question!! I've placed locations before, but its been a while, and now, I can't remember. I'm playing with it now, and when I figure it out I'll post. If someone else knows or figures it out first, please post directions.

On the left side at the top of the list of places there is an"edit" button. After you click that then three little icons appear in the top left corner of the map. Click the center one to add a placemark. Put the mark on the desired map point and click. A window will pop up for a name and description. When you are finished click the done button that is now above the list of names.

I have lots of places to add in the Houston area but it won't let me sign in to be able to edit it. I will keep trying and if it works I'm going to put some good spots on Conroe.

wow. the map is growing. This is a very useful tool for people wanting to try another place to kayak fish. Make sure you write a description too. I saw one that just had coordinates.

Chris, at first, I, too, had a problem getting "registered"..... even though I have had a registration with Google for some time. It turned out that you have to "add this site" with this MAP site.

TOOLS; INTERNET OPTIONS; SECURITY; SITES; TRUSTED SITES; Add this one to the list of trusted sites. Then, re-enter the site and the EDIT box should show up. regards, Rich

I am finally figuring this map out! It was about to give me a complex, but now I'm making progress and getting a few sites in.

Thank the Lord for little favors!

This was a great idea Dave. Kudos to you for thinking about it. It seems to be taking off great. Now everywhere we go I can have a reference point to go have some fun.....and catch the monster in their honey hole before they do.

Yep. this is FAR FAR better than reading piecemeal about a potential fishing location. If the wind is blowing from the East, I can see places to launch. If it blows from the West, or where ever...I've got somewhere to go. Thanks for the best idea on the site....IMHO....regards, Rich

p.s. This should be a STICKY!!!!!

Might be nice if there are any special regs to put a note on the post to check them.

Bowgarguide...Good suggestion.

I think that the way that Wikipedia works is that no one can post anything without some sort of "peer review"...i.e. someone else checks to see if the post makes any sense and is valid.

I've posted 20 or more spots since the map came up. All of the posts were accurate to my best knowledge. However, I have NO problem with any one else reviewing and suggesting any changes; regulations; or additional data .....to the Pins that I have marked.

Rich G
If that "small, open area kayak launch" is the one next to the Houston Yacht Club then its Seashell Beach

Just thought you might want to edit your listing

Also, could somebody add the Settegast Rd launch into Eckert Bayou/Starvation Cove/Dalehite Cove? It won't allow me to edit the map.
