This one has been good to me for the past year. Been dunked many times and hasn't failed on me yet. I wouldn't rely on it for tournament weighs but for "ballpark" I think it's close enough

And at less than $20 you can't beat it.

I know it's available at Bass Pro http://www.basspro.com/EconoScale" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;™-Fish-Scales/product/90579/-1451630

If you just need the lip gripper and not the scale, this is a good option... And it floats.

Second "The Fish Grip" If you don't want or need the scale part, these are great. Work over center similar to vise grips. And float. My wife had a nice bass on pink fluorescent ones. Fish got away from her and dove. She found it about 10 minutes later because the grip wouldn't let the bass stay under.

I've used the BPS Econo-scale/gripper. If you're interested in lipping the fish, it works great. I don't know how accurate the scale is though.

I agree with a couple of the others. I have two of "The Fish Grip", Gamefish Model. Made of floating plastic with coiled lanyard. Comes in several colors.I use the heck out of it in Yak and PB. No scale, but I don't need or want that anyway. Fishing Tackle Unlimited has these in stock for $14.99. One of my favorite accessories. :D

Have any of y'all lost fish with it? It seems to hang on well without putting holes in lips. Cam action seems to be pretty tight.

I ordered a lip gripper from ebay. A few had used them and it had a 50lb scale built in too. Looks like "fish gripper" on ebay gets you 3 pages of options...

If they're reading, I've used the cheap one. If they want to send me one of theirs to evaluate, I'll report back.

I think some of you guys are forgetting what makes the Boga grips so expensive (unless I am mistaken). Aren't they the ones that the grips actually spin around with the fish as opposed to conventional grips that don't move. I think they are the only ones that do that so that those species of fish that spin wildly after you take them out of water don't get off with a torn lip. I still don't own Bogas and I won't There is just way too much stuff I'd rather have for $200.

here's one of the EconGrips in action:

Been using it for 1.5 years and no problems. Wash it out with fresh water and spray it with CorrosionX after each trip. Got 2 from the good folks at FTU @ $19.95 ea. I do though have a Boga on my christmas wish list.

Never lost a fish with mine, but I'm limited to Reds, Trout, and Flounder in the bays. Let's see the Fish Grip is simple, effective, rust proof, light, pretty indestructable, brightly colored if you get one of those bright ones, and oh yeah, cheap. What more could you ask for. Actually I got my first one for free from Vincent at one of his Kayak fishing seminars. Thank you, Thank you, Vincent. One of my favorite all time accessories. :D

I have a pair of Berkley lip grips with the tape measure built in. The tape WAS a nice idea to me, but only lasted 2.5 trips in the salt.... for $20 it was still easier than trying to measure against my paddle. but they work alright, I've let fish hang in the water and haven't lost any, but they have torn up some lips. all in all they work and I've saved money or other useless investments..
