HAWGTIDE by El Pescado.

Post by spektakler »

This one is 2 good not to share. Yesterday (Sunday) I went out to west end of Confederate huntin for BIG Speks. There were some small slicks popping so i worked them. Hooked a great fish that cut me off on shell next to the boat. I stuck my stake out and retied (Limetreuse assasin) i started to reach for my stakeout when i see a disturbance 10' from me. I toss the bait, Instantly feel the smoke from the burning drag and a 28"-30" SkipJack launches 5' into the air. She runs about 10 more ft on reentry, then turns back, I am reeling as fast as i can and losing ground, She passes me portside doing about 60mph and as I get the drag back on her she circles behind me, taking my rod tip around both my holstered guns behind me. Im thinkin if i can pull my stake and spin around..... about that time she flys over my lap starboard to portside and cinches down tying me to my gear and breaks it off. Glad i wasnt throwing my braid she woulda probly cut my arms off. Reminded me of a Wylie Coyote/Roadrunner show i remember.

Yeah I actually target those things. I am out there for entertainment and enjoyment, and I enjoy the heck out of those skipjack. As far as using braid, I had a buddy who got broken off EVERY time a skipjack hit his bait on braid. No stretch led to near instantaneous break offs. All I could do was laugh at him when he'd get pissed. Made me glad I had switched back to mono.

It def would have made a great video. I have had them try to knock me out of the boat before but this one acted like he planned it all along. It had to be a Goofy site. 8)

That was a well told story, it was playing in my mind as I read on, and I think I even started to hear some music in the background.

I love it, that was awesome!!!!

The scent in cut up skip jack is a great red fish bait.
