Corpus/Port A area 7/19 7/20

Post by WesTex1 »

Hey guys me and a buddy are heading down to Aransas Pass this weekend, we will be fishing out of the yaks, mostly using artificial baits. I am new to kayak fishing the coast and looking for some suggestions on some good spots to hit up. I hope ya'll can help me out, thanks.

Hey guys, tides been quite low, B&R, LHL and other skinny spots be a rough paddle that may include some dragging...them intermediate flats like Steadman's, Terminal or along the Morris-Cummings should be holding fish...

Do it early, take plenty water, its HOT ...G

If you're launching from Conn Brown you can fish the flats directly across the in intracoastal or hook a right go under the bridge and run down this small alleyway about a half mile and you'll see this opening to the right and there are some great reefs to fish if you're on Reds, you can see them tailing in there at times. You can only get back there in really skinny boats or yaks.

Well I only caught on under slot red and a 16" speck at brown and roots, saw a lot of reds tailing buy could not get them to hit, but I think we should have waded towards them instead of trying to get the yaks close. Steadman was dead this evening. Where should we go for good catches in the morning?

Anyone have two ride 115's that stayed at super 8?
I'm here till tomorrow. I've seen the reds tailing as well with no takers. Going to try some live bait to see if I can get a tight line. I'm in a jackson coosa....

I pretty much stayed around the main entrance to Lhl. I finally caught my first red followed by two trout. The keeper trout ended up as a nice lunch before the wife and I headed home. Tried frozen shrimp and I would end up casting it off. Another yaker gave me a few mud minnows and had something freight train the bait. Needed up breaking off. Got some minnows this morning and fished till 11 or so. Went home sunburned but without the stench of skunk so I had a good weekend!
