I would think lightening would cut a hole straight through it, not burst into flames. My vote would be gasoline + bic.

Lighting is attracted to metal so it is possible that lighting hit the pump. Still looks kind of fishy to me.

If anything it hit the roof and traveled down through the pole to the electrical line. Jury is out.

Lightning would arc around the plastic if at all possible, or blast 1 hole through it. Not a very good conductor. Got an old college physics book if you want to borrow it.
