Hobie Pro Angler 17T Thoughts

Post by KickBak&Yak »

Ok, so I just saw some video, read all about it on the website and then saw the pre-order price on ACK. I'll admit this thing is fr freakin's SICK!!! But is it worth selling my 2 used ones and then cough up extra cash to buy this one?? I mean this is bigger than the baby cat boats and tech poling skiffs!?!?! I have mixed feelings about it; it's so bada$$ but so big and bulky and expensive, but has so much room - and BTW, I would never go tandem with anyone this would be rigged for solo fishing - Hell I've got 150lbs of gear on both of mine. I'M SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW :-/

Not for a solo rig. I bet with 1 peddler it would be sluggish. I like it but way to much yak for 1 person.

Thoughts:

Big, heavy, cumbersome, awkward...

IMO: Hobie should have instead invested in a Revo 13 Island with PA style seating, tab boards for mounting items, fully sealing front hatch, larger center hatch area with tackle trays, .... I could keep going....

Bow mounted 12v trolling motor... Two group 27 batteries since it can take the weight... A battery selector switch. Could be cool.

I think if I get one, I might put the H Bar way up front and hang a 65" flat screen from it to balance the weight. It does after all have nearly a half ton cap. Jus' Sayin', maybe a small shuffleboard???

Install a kegerator maybe?? Swap out the vantage seat for a Lazy Boy. This is going to be the ultimate kayak.

Pretty much. Kayak manufacturer trying to get extra money from folks that don't want too paddle but think trolling motor will solve everything

Yea, you could put a small outboard on that one. A little Evinrude 15 and a small fuel cell. That'd be pretty cool actually.

Don't think I'll be buying one, but it would be great to take the grand kids out fishing
