I have several collective pitch helicopters an one small quad copter, I don't know that I would take that risk over the water. One mishap and its a total loss. My luck a pelican would fly into the line taking the whole thing down.

I haven't ever owned a drone, or even a cheap little RC helicopter, but I agree and would never send one out over the water. "Money to burn" for sure.

the dji has some really neat features it has to locate a few satellites before it can fly after that is good if it runs into any problems let go of the sticks and it will correct itself and it has a go home button that will bring it back to the spot you took off from. read about it its real neat and $1500 for a cheap one

Just wondering what you would do if you hear your reel screaming as you are flying it back......its not like you can hit the pause button while its in the air....you may have hooked your "fish of a lifetime" and its getting away while you are playing with your toy :? :? :?

Give it a few more years and they will be much cheaper and advanced! The average person will afford one. I wouldn't doubt these will eventually replace kayaks for shark bait deployment.
